Hey,

I've done the 6-bolt swap in my 2nd gen and its coming time for a new timing belt. The problem I think I am going to encounter is that there is no way to take tension off the belt using the "tool" (piece of threaded rod through the tensioner bracket) with the 6-bolt motor correct?

If so, what have you guys done to change the T-belt?

Thanks,
-Jacob

you will have to do it wtih out the threaded rod, un bolt your tensioner and release the belt tension that way, then you will half to put it in the vise and put the pin back in it. it is kinda a b**** but you can do it with out the rod. :dsm:

Yup what he said. You will have to unbolt your auto tensioner and then change the belt then put the tensioner in a vise compress it and pin it with a small allen key or drill bit. Then reinstall everything and pull the pin. When it comes time to change the timing belt on my 6botl I'll prolly pull or drop the motor somewhat its to much of a PITA to change it in car and only 3 hours work to pull the motor.
