I was looking for cold air intakes for my car cause you can't even compare a car when it is during the fall and winter to one during the summer. I saw some that didn't look like they did anything special to make the air colder for the turbo. I found a couple at www.autosportz.com and I wanted to know if anyone has one or if they know that one of the intakes is good. Thx for the help guys.

Unless you remove the MAS via a VPC/standalone/etc.. You'll have a hard time finding a true CAI for your 2G T. Most of the intakes on that page appear to be for the NT's.

I suggest you read the tunig guide on this website, then pick up a good MAS inlet pipe.

The other question is where you want to route the pipe? To run CAI, you will also need to upgrade to a FMIC where the stock SMIC location sit your intake filter.

I have seen people use MAS with CAI but you will need a FMIC. Custom made the cold air pipe on a 1G tho, for 2G, I have no idea.

says who?

i have a cold air intake on my 2gt with stock maf

fmic makes room for a nice big ass tube to run up from the former smic duct up to the bottom of the k&n filter cone
then just put up an airbox and you're done

costed like $3

Yours is a cold air box :D, it is still not the same as a cold air intake.

it can be done with the stock intercooler i was looking to do it also but its going to be some cuting next to the intercooler upper pipe and run the pipe next to the intercooer pipe and your going to need like an S type pipe and set the cone filter like behind the inter cooler but make sure to cut the back of the wheel well out to dissipate the heat from the intercooler. hope this helps you some if not sorry maybe i can do it to my car and take a picture with someones cam......later

Yup a cold air intake is exactly how it reads. the actual intake is in a stream of cold air much different from a box around you're air filter. which still sits in that oven you call an engine bayOMG

I would really like to see some pictures on how that can be done. From what I have seen on my car, the stock SMIC is so close to the wheel well that it wont fit anything. Perhaps, u are saying sitting in front of the SMIC? A picture will speak a thousand words (if the picture is done right of course :D).

well i have 9 items comeing in the mail =0) including the Agp T28 and i work on turbos diesels all day long and have done some custom work for some trucks even tho i work on County Transit buses =0) Talk about some Big Azzs turbos runing 30lbs of boost .......but i will look into doing this project here in the next week or so. Also boring out the frount intake hole in the bumper to let more air in there also doing this to the other side will help the brakes cool better cuting the wheel well out and puting in the wire mesh. i knew i would get some people saying well that wont work or give me some $hit but thats cool....... anything can be done if you put your mind to it. just like this idea for the cold air intake.

its always a plus to have over 8 grand in tools at your job to work with to make things like this to work =0) and plus there stuff Hehhehehe
Got to love that

In a few months we should have a cold air intake ready. We are working on it now and I will let everyone know when its ready. I have waited a long time for a cold air intake using a 1G or 2G MAS, so instead of waiting any longer we have decided to make our own. I will let everyone know when its ready for sale. The web site hasnt gone public yet, but its at: http://www.jiggaspeed.com

i'll let you guys know how to build your cold air intake for us guys who wanna save a buck or 2 and make that long distance phone call LOL.
It's in the works now i hope to be done by the end of the week.

Yeah, I really want to see how you fit the CAI with the stock SMIC in place. Take more pictures please.

oh and the cold air intake will not be for sale.......... it will be free =)
+ some fabricating and materials and alot of cursin i bet. mainley me cause im doing it all for you.

ive been looking at my car over and over and i have come up with a set up it's going to be hard to do......if it works at all i should know by saturday night after i take the frount bumper off and do the cold air intake......note this is with the STOCK INTERCOOLER. but i do have alot of work to do that day installing my Agp T28 and other mods.

Like to bring this back to life and see if you have done what you've said and pictures?

ive got it kind of set up ......but im going to have to get some pipeing to make it ......ive used hose to get an idea of how id run it and have marked the spots i need to modifi so it's takeing a little bit longer then expected and work has just been makeing me work mad over time so sorry it has taken longer then i have expected and after im done i'll have to find someone with a cam to take the pics and send em back to me for me to post .....or send em to one of you guys to post not sure how to on here.

Later,
Rob
