hey people, im a newb to this forum and the DSM community. I recently just bought my friends 2g eclipse RS(far from stock) with insurance money(totaled D16 civic). What is written in the car description is to my best of knowledge what had been put into the car. Hhe car runs fine, the valves need adjusting and the car needs a tune, but thats the least of my problems, this is where my question comes in. I think you guys can help me.

The cooling system is stock, the radiator and fan are the same from when it came from the factory. The water pump is new and im guessing the thermostat is in working condition.

Guys-- im getting overheating problems. After driving for 20 minutes the temp gauge gets to the upper 2/3rd and then i have to give it time to cool. What should i do? My friend who sold it to me said that its been the only problem with the car. He told me that i need a new racing/aluminum radiator to make up for all the heat of the bigger engine. If that is the case, where can i find a website? Also would i need to swap out the stock fans too? logic says yes. But i need experienced help. What do you guys think? Any help will be greatly appreciated, i want to get this car on the road!

Hey, before any of these gurus can get you help, you need to let them know exactly what has been changed with the car. i.e.... what do you mean by bigger engine. is it a 4g63t conversion RS, or something else crammed in there. also, have you checked for any leaks or lack of coolant, do you know that the fans are working? have you checked or seen them working? just let everybody know as much as you can about what you've already checked. that way you're safe from a bunch of assinine questions about it. with that said, if an engine swap was done, and it's that much bigger, a bigger/better radiator should have been put in to begin with. you don't necessarily need a race radiator, just one properly sized for the engine, but, performance upgrades are always better if you've got the money. good luck.

You know what, i checked all the things i should of checked before posting and i solved my problem. It was a sticky thermostat, plus when i drained the fluid it appeared to be diluted with water. Since i fixed the problem, there has been no more overheating :) , i still think im going to get a new radiator in the future. Like other NA guys i have plans of going turbo, so investing in keeping the engine cool wont hurt. thanks people.
