Just bought a SS oil feed line from FP. Just wondering if i can use the banjo bolt for the OE feed line thats in the head to plug that hole, or if its too long and will possibly block other passages in the head...? Should i buy another shorter one, or will the stock one work just fine? thanx

As long as the threads are fine on it, the stock bolt will be fine. :dsm: Your GSX is a 1G, right?

If you are asking if you can take off the banjo and put the bolt back into the hole and have it stop the flow of oil then the answer is NO as the bolt is a banjo bolt and has a hole in it to let the oil out and will not go deep enough into the head to cover the hole.

(correct me if im wrong plz)

99gst_racer yea, its a 90

R3dR Thats what i was affraid of...

2 different answers...anyone care to verify one of the 2...
thanx

Do this:

go to your car and pull the bolt and move the banjo so the bolt will go back in hole by itself, I am 99% sure mine would not go all the way in when I put it back in by itself when I pulled th head but let us know.

Keep in mind that over 6-8lb will break those darn things when you put it back in with banjo

i'll give it a shot.

I know theres a hole at the end near the head of the bolt, but if i had the crush washer on there, and as long as the bolts tight, it shouldn't leak, correct?

Also, if i do need another bolt...what if i find a non-turbo 4g63, the head is basically the same correct? So it would have some kind of plug in it that i could use on mine...?

thanx

OHH, OK, I guess I just misunderstood the question. Yeah, you're right.

Let me make sure I got this right.....
Basically you will be running your new oil feed line from the oil filter housing like the 2G's and you want to block off the old oil feed hole on the head, right?

In that case, no, that banjo bolt will not act as a plug. Take it to your local hardware shop and tell them you need a shorter, non-banjo version of that bolt. :thumb:

When I broke my bolt I went to ace hardware and got a regular bolt that was way to long and cut it down and drilled it out, so you can get one and just cut it down to the size you want and RE-use the old crush washer (just one)

That little hole that has the hex plug in it right at the banjo bolt is where I run my mech oil guage at so I can see what oil my GT14 is getting as a full garret does not want super high oil flow.

you cannot reuse the banjo bolt as a plug. Youll need to get a 10mm bolt thats 10mm long and i believe its a 1.25 pitch.

Just take the banjo to a decent hardware store. i believe ironfist is correct, 10mm x 1.25 for the pitch. Mine was a little long so i just cut it shorter. mark

Well, thanx for all the help guys, but i ended up w/ more problems than i started w/, seems to happen to me quite a lot...over the weekend i pulled my turbo to fix something, decided to wait to do the SS feed line install...so i'm torqing down the feed line bolt into the head, and she just keeps on turnin, head stripped out!!! ended up havin to tap it out and findin a bigger bolt anyway, and installin my SS feed line...anyway, everythings cool now, no more leaks...
thanx again

if youre installing a new ss oil feed line, its best to get oil from the filter housing instead of the head.

yea, i did that, but i had to tap out the head and use a bigger bolt to plug it after it had stripped...
