I noticed this guys engine has a GM MAF and a 2g MAF. You don't need 2 MAF sensors. Can some one explain this little setup to me. And why are there wires coming out of the top of the translater?

Alot of people, when they switch to the GM MAF setup leave the 2G MAS and intake pipe their instead of buying a new one. That filter wont work without the 2g MAS being there. The white wire from the translator is the RPM signal from the CAS or Transistor pack.

thereby negating the free flow effect of the GM MAF. i would buy a $20 filter and throw it on the turbo.
