I've got a 1g bov that I'm using right now, but I'm looking to get one that can hold at least 30psi. I cant get a TIAL BOV because it has to recirculate, so what's the best one out there? Money is not really a big issue.

In that case.....just get the Tial along with GM MAF/MAFT setup in blow through, and a new intake pipe. Tial is by far the best, I don't even know what else I would want to run. Greddy's are a pain in the ass, HKS seems like a pain to recirculate, TurboXS just seem wierd. Just buy a Tial.

Turbosmart might make one. I can't remember what they're recirc. vavle is meant to hold though. They make beautiful parts though.

Forge makes a lot of Euro stuff....never heard of them making DSM products. Seems like the Euro stuff(at least 1.8T stuff) is a bit different design from what we use.

Anyone heard of Forge Motorsports? I was told by a VW friend that they might have something...

Slow sells them I think.

You are going to have a hard time finding something that re-circs that hold more than 30psi. I think 30psi is the max on the turbo xs BOV's. A greddy type-R can hold 30psi but they don't make a recirc kit for it, as well as the HKS racing BOV.

Well this is the HKS Racing BOV... looks like it recirculates.

This is the Greddy Type R BOV, it looks like it recirculates too.

I'm having a hard time finding specs on these BOV's though... any help would be appreciated.

cant you get 30 out of a type s, if you crank down the screw and then connect the second nipple with a line coming from turbo outlet elbow? or put a tighter spring in

Here is some info on the greddy

BLOW OFF VALVE Type S 37 mm valve diameter
BLOW OFF VALVE Type R 47 mm valve diameter

Here is the HKS

Racing Blowoff Valve Type II:
The Type II is engineered to accommodate up to 3.0 bar (43.44psi) of boost and can function accurately on vehicles in the 800 horsepower
The Racing Blow Off Valve Type II utilizes the same circular mounting flange and billet aluminum construction as the SSQV to provide outstanding flow and a perfect seal.

just so you know, not everycar has trouble with open atmosphere bov's. if you running 30 psi you should have some type of fuel management that can compensate for running your blow off valve open.

not running that much yet, but it is in the sights... I figure why by something more than once if I don't have to... I'm getting the BOV, Injectors, and Management in the next few weeks, so then we'll see what this baby can really do :thumb:

Yeah, but they will ship you washers for free to shim the spring. :thumb:

Ya but with all 6 washers in the max is 25psi, I wouldn't put any more in.

I just called Turbo XS to verify and OMG, those Tech guys are full of SH!T. He told me they run their BOV on all of their street cars which ALL run over 30 PSI and their race cars which run over 40 PSI. He said there is no 'max' load for it. It will work with 100 PSI just the same as 15 PSI. If it doesnt hold to 30+ PSI, then he said it's hooked up wrong......

There goes the thought of me ever using their products.... :thumbdown

A thread forever ago explained that a stock mr2 bov will hold all you give it.

In theory a 1g BOV should hold anything you can throw at it, it has the same amount of pressure pushing on it from both sides therefore it should stay shut....

From what I understand, it works pretty much that same, just the design is different so it holds a bit more.

actually the design is totally different. it's not held shut with a spring (there is just a spring to close it during vacuum conditions). it's held shut by charge pipe pressure, adn actuated by manifold pressure. the other advantage to this is that it opens just as fast at 5psi as it does at 35psi. most spring valves that increase spring pressure to hold higher boost sacrifice low boost response time in return for staying shut at high boost levels.

the design of the MR2 valve is almost identical to the HKS SSQ, with the VTV to increase response time. it will easily hold 35psi with no modifications.

keep in mind too that the diaphragms in spring bov's are exposed to whatever gage pressure you're running in order to keep the valve closed. the MR2 valve diaphragm operates on differential pressure, so there is never more than a couple PSI difference between both sides of the diaphragm, no matter what boost pressure you run. this means that at high pressures, the diaphragm has less chance of failing/leaking.

the fact that it would cost you no more than $45 to put one on your car (and yes, it recirculates) only sweetens the deal.

Many BOV manufactures use this theory, and many of us have proved it wrong. They all say they'll hold, but few of them actually do......

That Dejon leak thing is the dodge garage mod, which costs like nothing to do. There was a thread a while back showing you how to copy Dejon's kit for like 10 bucks.
From what I read about the Dodge Garage mod (thanks for the info!), it's not quite the same-- the Dejon mod adds a solenoid that switches it from "stop leak" mode to regular mode depending on the PSI.
