Yes I just bought a GST and it has 580cc Injectors, 255 Fuel pump, AFC, front mount, super 16 turbo and I was woundering if it is safe to be running 18 psi?? The guy I bought the car fron says it fine but I wanna make sure and also what is the max boost a stock 4g63 can handle..?? thanks guys im new to the whole DSM thing so bare with me!! I use to have a stage 4 wrx but this stuff is alot diffrent!!

That is a very good setup you bought. If it is tuned right you should have no problems. I have seen 1g's running 24 psi on the stock motor. 18 is the most i would go maybe 20. But that super 16g isn't the best turbo. I hear bad things about Hahn's turbo. You might think of upgrading to a 50 trim or even an EVO 3. Just my .02.

did you get a datalogger? That would be the best think to tell you if it is safe or not. You should have one at that level of mods. I would turn down the boost to be safe until you get some kind of logging device.

No I dont have a data logger or anything but he had an A/F guage in the car and when you floor it the light does not even move out of green at all... I know that the guage is kinda inacurate because it runs off a narrow band O2 but its gotta be some what right so I guess the car is running really rich intel I get it tuned friday??? and the turgo thats on there he told me is a super 16 with a 20 G wheel on it?? I have no idea what he meant and I dont think he did eather LOL??

Your right the A/F is very inaccurate because it is narrow band. It usually is used only for very general ideas how how your car is reacting to your fuel adjustment. I would get a logger, and start doing alot of reading on this site, as well as the other 2 or 3 sites out there for dsm's. You'll find tons of info, it will take months before you start getting a real grasp on all the in's and out's of dsm's. But i guess its better to have infomation overload than no info at all. Here is a good place to start:

Asking how much boost a dsm can handle is not a very good question, there are lots of factors to take into account like altitude, air temp, what is exactly done to the car, race gas. You can safely run 22-24 psi where i live but thats taking into account all the stuff i mentioned. On your setup things look really good if you had a logger i would think you could once or twice turn it upto 20psi but 18psi looks really good. I have seen lots of dsms run nearly 30psi with stock 7bolt motors other than arp head bolts and head gaskets. So it varies

what should you be looking for on the logger to see if boost it ok? I run 19 lbs on a big 16g ported with a supra fuel pump, 450 ccs, and an open stock downpipe, the air fuel guage stays about 3 bars away from total richness.
