Alright guys, I just bought a Greddy 24R FMIC kit. It's not here yet, because of the national back order, but I'd rather have the information now then right when I get it in a week or two. The question that I have is about mounting. I searched all over and didn't really find any specifics to my questions. Anyone with mounting experience I think could help me out. I have a 95 GSX with a 97 Front Bumber.

One. how did the bumper reinforcement come into play? Who took theirs out, cut a new one, or just trimmed the original?

Two. With the reinforcement removed, how does the 97 Plastic front bumper hold up? Does is sway sag or do anything of the nature? If it does, is there any fix without having to put the reinforcement back in?

Three. Airbags. I'm not sure if everyone knows, I just found out recently. Anyone with airbags and is missing a front reinforcement could be at risk for the airbags deploying too early or too late. I wish thinking about completely disabling the SRS unit and running with NO airbags. I don't know about you guys, but if the worse comes to S*** I don't want a bag to explode in my face at about a million miles an hour when it shouldn't... You know what I mean?

Thanks for your help and your time :thumb: :dsm:

You'd get a much better answer in the looks section than the advanced 4g63t section.

Have someone tig weld some L brackets to your intercooler and then you can get really creative. Just go walk around HomeDepot and I promise you'll come up with something in no time.

I have taken my reinforcement off but i dont have a greddy FMIC but its is alot bigger...Look at my sig does it look like my bumper is swayed or saggy...It looks fine to me.Wow i never heard about that airbag situation before..

The greddy IC in my opinion isnt the greatest there just is so much unecessary piping and some of the piping is like 2 inches, Im definitley going AGP.. :thumb: The greddys good though if your running 16g or smaller..

Thanks for your help guys - I appreciate your time.

Yeah i know greddy has a lot of "extra" piping.... however I don't think it effects performance too much. I know a lot of DSMs that are using their core and are running in the 11's. That's good enough for me.

The airbag this is more from an impact stand point - the bumper reinforcement will slow the triggering of the bags, with it gone, the impact is much quicker and no force absorbed. I'll probably end up trimming my reinforcement just to have something there.

I'd like to say thanks to DJSVEN who sent me an awesome write up on the install..

Anymore comments on the flexing or swaying of the bumper would be appreciated! :thumb: :dsm:

I have a 95 GSX w/ a 24R. Install was rather simple. You can easily retain the bumper support however the bottom lip of it has to be cut. I hear the fit is easier with the 97 front so you may not need to 'trim' your 97 bumper. However i had to get rid of the foglights and do some cutting on the inside of the front fascia. Good luck :thumb:

Whoever told you that is feeding you BS. Removing the bumper support won't effect the airbags at all.

Can you send it to me? I need to do mine.

Thanks,
