hey,
i blew my motor up and i have about 1500 to spend on getting it fixed. pieces of my t-25 got into cyl 3 and 4 and scored the walls making the rods knock pretty bad and making the car not run at all half the time. my mechanic says that my top end is almost perfect but the block needs to be replaced becuase there isnt any saving it. ive done some research, weighed out the options { 6 bolt conversion, 7 bolt stock motor, etc} but im wondering, i contacted gary at mitsu graveyard and said a 7 bolt block shipped would be like 200.00 bucks. from what i understand if im right if my top end is almost perfect but the block is done all i should need is a new block correct? any help you guys can give me would be really awesome, im havin trouble figuring out what to do.
thanks guys,
Ron

i wouldnt rebuild a 7 bolt block. i would try to find a 6 bolt block and head and rebuild it. you could do a stock rebuild on a 6 bolt block with about them money that you have to spend. make sure that you cant bore out the messed up parts on your block. if you can that would be the cheapest solution.

i thought about having it re=bored but my mechanic showed me why it couldnt { the gouges are almost deep enough to go throw the next cyl wall} i went to slowboy and looked at a 6bolt block and head { long block} and its like 5 grand for all compenents i need. to do what your saying id need a 6 bolt block and head, im guessing thats not it, but im not shure. any extra info you got wuold be awesome. :)

if you do all the work yourself it will be around 1500. i got the kit i used form importperfomanceparts.net for about 500 bucks. you can get a "perfoamce" kit for 900.

yeah im going to do the work myself with the help of a friend that i work with that has some decent exp with dsm's. so 6 bolt block, 6 bolt head, intake mani, and will i need these things?
ACT Flywheel
Mitsu Factory New Cam Sensor
1G Intake
Gasket Kit
Water Pipe / Water Outlet
Thermostat Housing
Timing Belt Cover
6 Bolt Oil Filter Housing

these are things included in the 6 bolt swap kit for a 2g on slowboys website. is it possible someone could make a me a list of the things i will need for this swap? im going to email gary at mistu graveyard a list of stuff i need so he can give me a price. thank you soo much.

i dont know if all the laughing is a good or a bad thing, but if its a stab, please dont do so in my thread. hopefully this thread will bring alot of knowledgeable dsmer's into play. i got prices from dsmgraveyeard and i'm im pressed to say the least, best prices ive seen so far, including the labor to put the block together. is there anything else anyone can think of that im going to need other then the obvious? shortblock/head/intake mani/oil pump/gaskets/timing belt cover. what other components am i missing?

Hi I'm dsmtuners member and all i know is that 7 bolts suck and 6 bolts rulezzz!

If building a motor, look for a 1g 7 bolt block.

 Ok... think you ment 6 bolt block... Do some looking if you want a 6 Bolt. I have 2 atm... One is a fully Built 6 Bolt and the other is going to be a 2.3 Stroker. Do some looking for people parting out their cars... You can find a 6 Bolt block for $100 I'm sure.. I'm not to sure but I think you might also want the crank as well.. Good luck..

Oh BTW... I was going to go the $500 rebuild kit route when I decided to go big... now I'm up to 3K in various engine parts and other Mods that needed to get done...
