I had 30 compression on my #1 cylinder, my mechanic pulled the piston, but doesn't want to reinstall it with used rings.

Anyone know where I can get a set of rings for one piston?

Thanks

Since the head is off, I recommend replacing the rings on the other three pistons.
What was the compression on the other three. For a 2G I believe stock compression is 170. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Also make sure they replace the rod bearings too.

New Rings + Used Rod Bearing = :thumbdown

There's less than 40k on everything but the head, which is getting a new valve job right now. He said the piston looked fine, he just doesn't want to put used rings back on it. Not quite sure what the other cylinders were like, but I know the were at least 165 except for the 30 on cylinder 1.

Replace the rings and bearings. It is cheaper to do it now than later.

You can order individual cylinder ring sets from slowboy for like 30 bucks. They are some no-name brand, but they are good for when you manhandle the O.E.M. ones too hard.

What caused the lost compression in one cylinder after 40,000 miles? If you dont want to replace all the bearings, just replace the one rod bearing. You can buy just one clevite rod bearing from an autoparts store for around $7.99.

bearings won't bring back compression. call a machine shop and have them order just one clevite ring set. i have them on my motor and all is good.
