look outside the chamber...see where it looks like the metal is eaten away somewhat? right around where the head gasket seals to the chamber above the intake valve's....

How deep are the pits ? Its not just surface carbon fouling then? I cant make it out very good.

if you look at the second picture, the left side outside the intake valves is suppossed to be flat like the outside of the exh valves. Im not sure how deep it is, i just dont want to put the car together and have constant problems.

Its not very easy to see in the pics but I think that I am seeing that the flat surface in the combustion chamber up above both intake valves has a depression ? It is really hard to make out depth . You are going to need to post a different pic with a straight edge on the head with a light behind it to show the amount of material gone . If that is even what Iam seeing .

im not asking about anything around where the valves go, it is the part of the head that fits into the combustion chamber but it suppossed to be flat. Maybe you guys are looking at something else here or maybe i am just worried about something that is normal with these cars? But i can see it pretty easily in the pics.

looks to me that that head is junk. it looks like it is pitted wherer the fire ring goes, and that is no good for a hg seal. also all those little pits in the chamber are spots that will get hot and glow red hot and cause premature detonation. you could take it to a welding shop and have them build it up with weld and then re machine the deck of it.

How about some better lighting when you take the next pic . It looks like you used a flashlight? Scrape the carbon away from the surface with a sharp flat edged object and then take another pic . I see what appears to be pitting but cant tell for sure . Also I see no blow out of the headgasket there so is was sealing there . I would expect a head to be burnt on the exhaust side rather than the intake side . Clean it and take new pics :thumb:

BULLSHIT :thumbdown - It's just carbon - clean it up & get to work...

We can't make any damned conclusions based on pictures of a dirty head with no lighting.

Clean it up really well, and take another picture with good lighting. Then you can start arguing.

Also:

"Check this Out" sure as hell does NOT describe the question you are asking in this thread! Next time, use a thread title that is descriptive, like "Blown head gasket, is this head fixable?" or something.

Exactly:

The rules state:

Use descriptive thread titles.

I fixed the title of the thread but in the future threads (by anyone) without good titles or descriptions will get locked.

If you not going to put effort into the title for other people to help you then you don't need replies

damn anyone else wanna bash me? yea i put check this out since the only questions that seem to get answered are questions about bov's and what turbo to use. thanks for the guys who helped me out and if i posted the wrong title im sorry, dont ban me for it.

i put your picture in a picture veiwer and zoomed in pretty good. its got some pitting on the ridge of the cumbustion chamber and it may need to be decked. the pitting isnt terrible but enough. clean it good and post another pic please. i can help you more with a clean picture
