I have a nasty oil leak so I dropped the pan yesterday to re-seal it. I inspected the motor while the pan was off and found mitsu bolt's on the main caps. I purchased arp main studs and I brought them to the machine shop with the rest of my parts. I even payed for the install of my arp main studs. Thank's Specialties Machining in ft. lauderdale.
I'm wondering If I need to pull the motor dissassemble it, and re-align hone it to install a set of main studs or If I should just keep the mitsu bolt's. At what point as far as hp do main studs become an necessity? I plan on making 600whp, do I need main stud's?

Yes you need to have the mains line honed when switching over to the ARP studs. Use the studs while line honing also!! If this is not done the mains are not going to be straight and bearing failure will soon happen. The studs puts more pressure on the mains causing them to flex and loose shape and staightness. Its always a good Idea to line hone any engine rebuild because the rest of the machine work goes off the main saddles.
The whole machine process is line hone, deck, bore, then hone. Without the mains being completly straight and perfectly round the rest of the machineing on the block wont be right. Good luck with your build up and take your time
