Ok, I have been searching for the last hour and a half and can't find an answer to my question. I have an evo iii 16g I will be putting on monday. It is fully ported from forced performance.

I can buy a 2g ported manifold for pretty cheap so i was planning on doing that. here is the question:

The manifold is ported but the collector area is not as wide as the 7cm gasket. it is maybe 1-2 mm too narrow the whole way around the opening. Will this manifold, even thought it does not match up to the gasket and evo opening, work fine? or should I just leave my non ported stock 2g manifold on the car?

Any info would be great, including a link to a thread that I missed. :thumb:

just to verify- i am most worried about boost creep. What would be my best option, the kinda ported or unported manifold?

Ok, creep is not an issue with either one.

anyone have any clue what the power difference could possibly be?

its not so much a power diffrence as it is spool up time, the quicker the spool, the larger range of rpms you can use the power. so instead of having power from say 3300-6500 it would now be at 2800-6500.

From what Buschr says it's the EVO with a 3" exhaust that can cause creep. Some backpressure is good. I went with all EVO exhaust components ported and run a 2.5" mandrel exhaust, NO creep! Mark

So how much quicker will the spool be? Is this going to be noticeable and worth the extra time and money it will take to get the new manifold, finish porting it, take the old one off and replace it with the new one?

i don't think its going to be all that much quicker, really the diffrence is if you get a ported turbo, i had a b16g unported with a ported 2g mani, and a half ass ported 02 housing, and they were put on at diffrent times, there wasn't a huge diffrence noticed in spool maby like 300rpms if that. but mainly that was because my turbo wasn't ported. if you have the tools you can do it your self, porting the collector area is one of the easiest things to port. so since im guessing that you mean the runners are ported on the one manifold, then yeah, port the collectors your self, and then put it on. and also i had no creep with my b16g and full 3inch turbo back, with no cat, but i did have the center section cut out of the 02 housing.

I am just gonna get the ported mani and put it on. I guess it really cant hurt anything, and it is only 70 bucks. I hope this installation goes well this weekend.

For $70. I would go for it. I feel having all of the EVO parts ported left me with a big 16G spooling as quick as the stock 14B. Mark

how do you think my setup of a ported big evo16g and ported 2g manifold and 02 housing with a 2.5 downpipe and 3 inch catback no cat would do

what do you think it will spool at
thats a very good setup right?

also how much power and how much faster in rpms do you think the porting of the big evo 16, 2manifold, and o2 housing will add>

LOL sup nore.. finally left the NJDSM boards huh?

i have the SAME setup as you do and my boost doesn't kick in [ i read full boost by 3.5k ] at like 3.8k; no boost/vac/exhaust leaks... i dont get it

How much boost are you guys running? I run around 18 psi and it spools like the 14B though I have not payed attention as to what rpm I reach that level though I WIll check it in the morning. I got lost along the way as to what the exact issue is with this post. I got my EVO package from Buschuer. Exhaust manifold, 02 housing and turbo, all ported. The port work cost around $140.
I can't say it is something that set me back in the seat any harder. It's part of my total package that I wanted as my future mods will benefit from the work. Mark
