Just had my motor completely rebuild and I am planning on ruuning a stock appearing setup. I haven't put the motor together yet. Just assembled the bottom end. I came across0 some 2G pistons and I am thinkin about having them installed before I put the motor back together. What I need to know are some pro's & con's of having the 2G's in my current setup. Also what I might have to add or take away to make it work if I decide to go that way. I have heard such things as faster spool and also easier to get detonation. Don't wanna f*&# up a fresh motor. If anyone could help then it would get me goin again that much sooner!:thumb:

do the '95 pistons. If you're going to be running a stock appearing turbo (ie 16G or less) than you won't run enough boost to detonate your engine with the '95 pistons. They'll bump up your compression to 8.5:1 as compared to the 1G pistons which I think, may be wrong, but run 7.8:1 compression. Just make sure you run the boost responsibly... keep the fuel flowing. I mean think about it... would mitsubishi make the stock compression 8.5:1 if they were real concerned about detonation? Wait, don't answer that... we're talking about the same company that should have its CEO's kicked in the nuts for cutting costs on the 7 bolts. But seriously, I'm going to be going 6 bolt 1G rod 95 pistons on my next engine. If you aren't a dumbsh*t with your boost you won't detonate it.
To answer your question: Pros; 8.5:1 compression will give you a lil more low end torque when you're not on boost, it'll spool the turbo quite a bit faster, and that setup is can easily take 400 whp.
Cons; basically the inverse of the Pro's.
Just go with the '95 pistons, you won't regret it.

im in the process of building my motor, 6 bolt with 95 pistons, an 20 g turbo , what u think is too much boost??? 25 psi??

the RODS are the weakest link in the bottom end, not the pistons. Stock pistons can handle 25psi+ no problems, but start detonating and your stock rods twist like pretzels (not to mention possibly melting those stock pistons).

Stock big rods (6 bolt) + 2G slugs HAVE dyno'd 470 WHEEL hp, 28psi, Red turbo. They CAN handle the abuse for a while, with PROPER TUNING!!
