evo8 swap?

idea popped into my head... is it at all possible to swap a evo8 engine into a 2g eclipse?

not talking about how much me idea money its going to cost, the idea of the thread was to discuss "how too" becuase im shure theres someone out there that has info on like motor mounts or how they size up in the engine bay. discuss .

How about just take your head off, port and polish it, put in some cams, get a fuel pump, 550's, evo 16g, evo manifold and 02 housing and have your self a almost identicle setup yet a little better for about 2000 instead of 5,000 for parts and probably another 2 grand in install?

again, this is not for myself, it was an idea, dont care about money,care about the idea behind it. already have 16g and pump and injectors, just wanted to start an conversation to think about.

well the evo is our engine with different internals, turbo and so on...Plus the whole evo flows backwards of that a dsm does. So It would take ALOT of custom parts to make it all work. Im sure some shop out in lala land cali is probly working something up as we speak, but as said its just not worth it. With a front mount small or big or evo 16g 550s fuel pump more boost and tune youll be ALOT faster. So for alot cheaper you can get more power, So I dont think the idea has even gotten past being a simple thought. But what I always say if theres a will theres a way. good luck on finding info and keep us posted.

what i dont think anyone is realizing is that, i realize my car will never be an evo, so i dont even care to make it as fast as one. i simply started the thread to just be a brain picker, maybe get on a good/intresting subject, thats all.

We all realize what you are saying, but this has been brought up since we knew that we were getting EVO VIII's. It has been discussed and the answer is that it isnt worth it. Thats like an F body guy wanting to swap his LS1 for an LS6 from a Vette. No point just the same motor with a few changes.

Ah, so it was a dragster with DSM metal wrapped around it. Not quite the same, is it? You could peel off the fenders and make it a Datsun, or a Mazda, or a Humber Snipe.

Seems to me that once you've stopped using a DSM gearbox, transfer case, driveline and rear end, it's not so much an engine swap anymore.

No, it wasn't just a dragster with DSM panels. It was a DSM shell with basically everything under the car ripped out. It wasn't one of those fiberglass funny cars that look "kind of" like the real thing.

Obviously this isn't much of a DSM but...
