Hey guys i have a 97 GST with all the basic mods, a FPBigT28, and a Walbro 190 fuel pump. For my next mod I was trying to decide between Injectors or a Super AFC-II. I am running on stock injectors now so I cant turn up the boost past 14psi. So if i get injectors i can turn up the boost but Im already running rich as hell. And if I get an AFC I wont try to dyno tune it until I get injectors too. So what would be the bad effects of running too rich?

Washing the cylinders down with gasoline which is not a lubricant. Eventaully so much gets past the rings you end up with it in your oil. Let go long enough you can spin bearing and so on. Now this is only in extreme cases but running rich all the time is not good.

You can not simply choose between injectors and safc, you need both. If you buy injectors first your going to be running really rich but could turn up the boost and the car would run sorta ok under boost. Buy the AFC first and you still can't turn up the boost. Changing the afc setting or not, your still limited by a 450cc injector.

Save your money and buy both.

I know I have to buy both. I was just try to see which one would be more beneficial to buy first.

Since you have the bigger turbo, Jim is basically saying you could buy the bigger injectors, and as long as you increase your boost you will be somewhat allright. BUT, You will be even more rich at idle which is a bad thing.

You could buy the AFC but then again, it will only help the car run smoother at lower boost levels where you would have the fuel.

I say if you won't wait and buy both like he recommended. (which is the best idea) Then buy the AFC and get used to how it works, but keep the boost DOWN until you can get those injectors you need. :thumb:

Definitly buy the SAFC first to play with. You aren't going to be able to get huge amounts of boost because of the stock injectors, but you can get used to the whole process so when you have money to put the 550cc or whatever, it will be much, much easier. Bascially you can tune your current setup much better and get some gas mileage back...
