went to retorque my headstuds and decided to pull the plugs to see whats goin on...keep in mind the plugs are only about 20 miles old......well #2 cylinder plug was completely black and wet, while the rest of the plugs looked pretty normal.

first thing that comes to mind is a stuck/bad injector, but i just had my injectors cleaned and checked right before my buildup (~300 miles ago, and they are denso 720's btw) so unless something has happened by then they should be fine

plug wires are also brand new...

so last thing that comes to mind is the coil pack...unless someone has any other ideas i guess i should try and borrow or find a used coil pack and see if that helps.

am i on the right track here, or any other suggestions?

edit: i guess i could also switch around #2 cylinder injector with another cylinders and see if the problem changes

i changed the injectors around and im still having the same problem with the #2 cylinder...so i guess next step is to try another coil pack?

flip the firing order ... do 1432 instead of 4123. See what happens now with cylinder 2 and 3.

good call.

already did a compression awhile ago and it was fine..

Its wierd to just see a coilpack mess up like that ... but these cars are VERY mysterious. My ignition module died one day and it felt like the car was running on only 2 cylinders. It was popping and backfiring like crazy, and my rpms read 0 on the tach the whole way home. wtf!?!?! I hope you solve your problem though. :thumb:

well i switched the order up and went out for about 15min and gave it strait hell..came back and all the plugs looked pretty normal.

the plug that was completely black and wet was now still a little darker then the others but it wasnt wet and the electrode was more brown

i dunno..im just gonna stick with the good old saying if its not broke then dont fix it...eitherway the car runs good..figured out i can spin all the way through 1st gear with only a 3.5-4k launch at 15psi so thats always fun :D

went ahead and did another compression test and it came out 160, 160, 168, 160..with the 168 in the cylinder that previously have the all black plug. hmm, oh well.

well see how it likes race gas and 2 bar next week..if it lasts long enough so i can race at the shootout ill be happy :thumb:
