anybody here ever heard n e thing good about the gt28 turbo by garrett? i usually only here people talkin bout the t3/t4 turbos. i read the gt series turbos spool up faster than the t series ones. but no1 ever talks about da gt!!! is there somethin i should kno?

The highest flowing version of the GT28 is the GT28RS (nicknamed the Disco Potato), but the most it'll flow is enough to feed around a peak of 340 flywheel horse. In comparison the SCM50, which is the smallest T3/T4 that PTE sells, will feed a peak of 450 flywheel horse. Most people would rather pay less and get the additional horsepower. The GT28RS is much more efficient and have a quicker spool up time, but won't flow enough for most DSM'ers. Hope that helps - Brian

"a standard Big T28 will make more power at half the cost."

I have to disagree. A Big T28 is just an old T-25 turbine with a T3 compressor stuffed in a small compressor housing. The T3's that were used for "T-28's" are rated at 33lbs max (so approx 330hp)... While the turbine was still wussy (ie: backpressure galore). Cranking up an old T-28, and your risking reversion... The larger A/R's available to the SR20 guys help ward off that backpressure... We are not so lucky (2g crowd). Otherwise you need a new GT turbine for less backpressure and better flow...

Which is where the FPBig28 comes in.
