calgary,
i just found a gas station around me that sells 94 octane gas. this is a great pleasure to me as 91 is the highest grade i thought i could get. the 94 rating however is blended with ethinol. its fom huskey if that helps. i just wanted to know the science of the blended gas vs. normal gas. could some one explane this ?

Isnt ethinol a octane booster or they use it in octane boosters or something like that?

i dont have a clue. im just debating on weather i should drive the extra 2km to fill up or not. id assue that the ethinol or aolchol or what ever its blended with witll burn more compleet causing less exhaust and there for not spooling the turbo or maybe preignighting with all the boost. just my thoughts... any other ideas?

All gas is blended. Normal octane gas is blended with heptane. I've never seen gas blended with ethanol, but hey, higher grade gas can never hurt ;). I use 93 octane around here, since it's common.

Ethanol is about 115 octane. I'd run 50% ethanol if I could.

There was a thread about E85 on here a little while ago. If you read that you'll see that E85 requires more fuel. E85 is 85% ethanol.

Sure, but not as much as you think....It's 20% leaner, but its 115 octane, so it balances a good bit....for top end...for cruising you'd have some issues.

check to see what percent ethanol it is... around here all teh stations only have 91... but there is one station with 93 mixed with 10 percent ethanol, and surprisingly, it's cheaper than the 91... I've always used it, and it's worked fine for me. :thumb:

ethanol blend is better for your engine, you may need a new fuel filter cause it may get clogged. never heard of 94 pump octane before but hey....id get it! the ONLY downside of the ethanol is the need for the new fuel filter.
