I did not have time to order a balance shaft elim kit when we did the rebuild. we needed it on the road. i had no choice. well 1700 miles after it was running the balance shaft bearings broke. the mechanic installed the new oil pump + gears, all gaskets changed etc. does anyone have any idea why the balance shaft bearing would break in half like it did? the only reason i could think of it breaking is the mechanic installed the oil pump incorrectly? any body got any ideas?

I'm sorry but you & your "mechanic" screwed up bigtime & misunderstood what "time" it takes to do the BSE or order the "kit" - all you REALLY needed was a $20 Mirage Oil Pump Stub Shaft that you could have picked up when you picked up the other parts you used during this "rebuild" - That's not a rebuild - that's an abortion.

im not looking for criticism and how we did things wrong. no one had the mirage oil stub. i live in a small town and to get any part takes 2 days. we didn't have any time. i had already given them the BSE kit from diamondstarmotorsport but it didn't fit correctly. there was a hole in the stub and it didn't work properly. so instead of ordering a new one we were out of time.

the front and rear balance shaft bearings broke. sorry i didn't specify before. they cracked right in half.

Shane818 you had other options - I dare say there's a hacksaw, a tap & a bolt laying around even in the remote regions of the jungles of Connecticut - Had you properly researched your options & parts needs prior to proceeding you might not have started this Thread - Part of the Function of these Boards is allowing other's to learn from your mistakes - Try taking the well deserved criticism like a man.

were the oil holes on the balance shaft bearings lined up with the holes in the block?
