I went to the track a few weeks before I had the fuel pump and s-afc in, my best run was a 15.7:mad: WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR!?!?!?

haha welcome to my life, i have a 98 GSX, basicly same mods minus the SAFC. I ran about a week ago and best time was a 15.1. What kind of weather conditions was it, hot cold, humid ...
Also, what where you shift points, and what RPM were you launching at?

Little help, do you know you 60' times, and 1/8?

defnitaly want a MBC/Boost gauge.

But temps werent to bad, you should be in the 14s with a MBC. Try launching at about 5 - 5500 RPM. Even on your stock drive train it can take it. Your 60' should be 2.0 to 2.1. a 2.5 on a GSX isnt good, unless your clutch is going. Also with the shity T-25 Mitsu gave us, at redline you engine is outrunning your turbo. Im assuming your trap speed was 83-84 MPH.

So try launching, and shifting faster (you shouldnt be hitting 4th gear) and you will see alot of improvements.

the 60ft is your main problem. Launch that thing... With a good launch you should be able to knock at least .5 off your 60 ft, which will be about a second off of your 1/4 mile time, if not more... Don't be scared, launch that bi***. With similar mods (no safc, but 14psi) I ran an 8.9 in the 1/8th with a 2.0 60ft.

wow that is what happend to me when i first took my TSI AWD to the track, i was running mid 14's with 2.4-2.5 60's, just gotta grow a sack, rev it and drop it, itll feel so much better, 2.0-2.1 are still really bad 60's for an awd, i cut 1.7's all day on 205/55 40 dollar wal-mart tires in my awd. and 1.6's on good tires. just take my advice and do it once, itll be the best thing u ever did, i used to be scared to do it, but its better to drop it and spin than bog and break stuff.

The temp was 74
60' - 2.505
1/8 - 10.278
shift at redline, no launch

Get that 60 ft time down to around 2.0 or less. Practice slipping the clutch more than a drop.

Don't shift at redline with a T25. No need. Shift between 6000 and 6500.

Get a Aftermarket FPR to control that 255 fuel pump.

If you need more help, let me know. You can swing by a DSM meet locally if you want and I/we can show you a tip or to to get those times down. Eventually you could have them well into the 14's easily enough.

hey Tevenor What would be decent times to aim for on a fwd 2g eclipse, lsd, act 2600/street disk, aluminum 9lb flywheel, small 16g, fmic, re-wired fuel pump, 16 pounds of high boost, 10pounds of low boost???

Man sounds like you do have some issues, i have all the same mods as you in my 97 gsx with horible suspension running 14psi of bost and no fuel pump and ran a 14.08. Are you getting a good launch? Whats your 60 ft? Do you have stickers on your car? I hear that you slap those on your car and it knocks a few seconds off your ET. :)

*EDIT* Looks like you were taken care of in the other thread.

I didn't see my thread when I was searching so I thought it might have gotten deleted or something, I just wanted to hear other people's opinions. And DSMSpyder99, I admit I could probably improve my driving a little cuz I'm a girl right? It was my first time at the track, give me a break! I can drive!!

I don't think the fact that your a female makes much of a diffrence on your ability to drive. If i were you i'd start listening to your car, if its running slow something is wrong its trying to tell you something somewhere. Have you cleaned your air filter? Is there a leak on one of your intercooler pipes or around your BOV? Do you have aftermarket rims ? The increase in size will throw off your ET. Have you changed the oil lately? Do you know what settings you changed on you safc? And how to set them back to default? Look at the little things first. I donno how much good this is to you but maybe its just a leak. :dsm:

You sould be able to sneak in a high 13 on street tires if your a driver. Otherwise, expect no less then low 14's@around 104-105mhp

As for 15.7 boy. Was that 2.5 60ft a serious effort? No less more than 1.9's in a stock car. I have seen people take BONE STOCK awd talon's and rip 1.7's out of them. Do not sift and anything over 6000rpm.

WTF! does a girl have to do with anything. I know a few girls that a great drivers. One drove her stock EVO to a 13.3 in the 1/4 and the other drives a 6spd CL-S and is a damn good Canyon Runner (has not gonna drag racing though)

EDIT: i read the other thread and you REALLY need to work on your 60'. My best 60" on my GST w/ 30psi in tires is 2.3xx. I hope to cut another .1-.2 since i got prothane mounts and im gonna lower the tire psi to 18-20

With a GSX you really should be cutting better 60ft times. 2.5 second 60 fts are really, really bad. You want to aim for around the 2.0 and under second mark. Try reving to 4000-5000rpms and drop the clutch trying not to bog. You have AWD so use it!! Also, you listed a lot of mods but not really any speed mods:

*GReddy Type-S BOV (doesnt add hp without MBC)
*Magnecore spark plug wires (doesnt add hp)
*Injen cold air intake (1hp)
*GReddy upper and lower intercooler pipe kit (doesnt add hp)
*Apex'i catless downpipe (5-10whp)
*3" Thermal R&D exhaust (5whp)
*Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump (doesnt add hp without MBC)
*GReddy (radiator cap, oil cap) (doesnt add hp)
*A'PEXi turbo timer (doesnt add hp)
*A'PEXi S-AFC 2 (can help add power if you are using it properly, more effective with more boost)
*B&M short shifter (doesnt add hp)

Work on your launches and I wouldnt shift at 6000rpms if I were you because the T-25 doesnt make any power that high in the rpms. Keep in mind that every tenth of a second added before the 60ft time equals 2 tenths of a second added at the end of the quarter meaning that if you cut a 2.0 60ft then it would be a 14.7 1/4 mile time... Practice on some side roads and try again.

I've merged the 2 threads so everyone doesn't get confused.

I don't think there is anything immediately apparently wrong with the car. I would need to give the whole thing a once over to be sure. The T25 is not really a drag turbo. It has its pros and cons, but making power is definitely a con.

Mod hat on: Let's keep the conversation civil.

I ran about 15 flat with the car completely stock. With an Injen intake, Greddy Type-S with IC pipes, and a manual boost controller (set to 15 psi), I ran 13.7 @ 96. Oh, and I took the headlight out. That run I had a 1.8 60-ft. That's where 90% of a good ET is, the 60-ft. I found that the perfect shift point for my car with the T-25 was about 6200 rpm. Remember, it doesn't matter as much how much power you're making at the shift point but how much power you're making at the point you end up after the shift.

As for launching, with the T-25 I would hold revs steady at 4500 rpm, and when the light went green I'd slip the clutch while adding gas. It's a pretty quick thing but it's not a straight clutch dump. Dumping with the T-25 usually results in bogs; with more power it usually results in spin which on my car ends up making me slower. Slipping has always been fastest for me.

I would expect with your mods and an MBC (www.joepmbc.com) you should be able to run some mid-high 13's.

i am gonna fix all the mistake smokey90gsx made and add some correction

*GReddy Type-S BOV (doesnt add hp without MBC)
WRONG the stock 2G doesnt even hold stock boost level (12psi) so you dont need a MBC to make it effective.
*Magnecore spark plug wires (doesnt add hp)
WRONG air+fuel+spark=HP basic formual u learn in Auto Tech. It would add some power
*Injen cold air intake (1hp)
WRONG this is not a honda. Adding an intake makes the turbo breath easier so its more like 10hp
*GReddy upper and lower intercooler pipe kit (doesnt add hp)
WRONG with a bigger diameter and made of steel it doesnt not flex like the mesh piping. Also 2G have this nasty kink right after the IC which really messes up the flow. This is one of the biggest improvements you can make on a 2G
*Apex'i catless downpipe (5-10whp)
Once again this isnt a honda, adding a downpipe makes the turbo breath easier. It is more like 15-20 whp since it has no cat
*3" Thermal R&D exhaust (5whp)
Same thing as downpipe it more like 10-15 whp
*Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump (doesnt add hp without MBC)
this is overkill your are running way too rich and you need a AFPR
*GReddy (radiator cap, oil cap) (doesnt add hp)
one of the few things smokey90gsx got right
*A'PEXi turbo timer (doesnt add hp)
one of the few things smokey90gsx got right
*A'PEXi S-AFC 2 (can help add power if you are using it properly, more effective with more boost)
one of the few things smokey90gsx got right
*B&M short shifter (doesnt add hp)
wont add HP but shorter shifts results in less down time when you engage the clutch. Unless you like to power shift

By looking at your car domain site, it might be that extremly large speaker in the enitre hatchback area. If you took that out I would bet some good money you would be in the high 14's, with good driving of course.

Hey guys! I'm happy to say that I went to the track last night and ran a 14.1! Thanks for all your help :)
