My 16G Killer siezed up after 800 miles of use. I should have never bought this POS. I'm back to the drawing board and am considering a T3/T4 turbo. I have the everything to support the new turbo except I will need a new exhaust manifold for an external wastegate, new downpipe, and a true 3 inch back exhaust. I need to links for research on the following:

T3/T4 turbo's ( Who carries them and prices)
Exhaust Manifolds that support external wastegates for the t3/t4 setup ( Who carries them and prices)
Thermal Cat-Back exhaust (Who carries them and prices)
Tial Waste Gates (Who carries them and prices)

I'm also checking the archives but if you guys could help me I would appreciate it.

If you go with a T3/T4 you can go with an AGP, RNR, or similar set up where you get the turbo, mani, wastegate and everything else needed. Prices start at around $1600.

If your going to drive your car a lot get a cast manifold.

Bolt on with an external gate mounted on the housing would be good for you.

Slowboy has the external housings, wastegates, and bolt on turbos for a pretty good price.

The turbo was brand new I had it sitting on the shelf for about a year before I bolted it on. I think it got a total of 800 miles out of it before it went belly up. I had an inline oil filter with it too to make sure the turbo would not grab any debris. I found a kit with everything for around $1700.00 and it bolts right up using the stock exhaust manifold. The turbo is now making some odd noises. I have the car scheduled to go under the wrench at the end of this month and it will include a trip to the dyno for tuning. I was told I will be making with my mods and some tuning of course around 420 HP on pump gas at 25-27 PSI. I hope its better than my 16G killer put out at 260 HP. Time will tell. Thanks for you input.

What the hell man? First my new Big T28 dies and now yours does at close to the same amount of mileage? New turbos make me nervous. Mine is getting taken out this weekend and going back to the manufacturer for warranty. They think I may have injested something to kill mine, but who knows.

Did either of you guys pump oil up and through your new turbos before firing up your car and running it because if you didn't you will get what has happend to you but if you did do that...thats pretty crazy that happend. :talon:

Yeah, I did. It was on FP's website, so I made sure my mechanic did it. Actually I did it once the turbo was installed before firing her up. I'm not sure if mine has seized up though. Mine actually spins at idle, but it won't boost, and it smokes like crazy at idle. FP told me it sounds like the bearing has completely failed, hence all the smoke.

Well the turbo was put on the same time my six bolt went in. I put oil pressure at 60lbs through the whole motor including turbo with a drill prior to putting the timing belt on. This pisses me off. My situation really sucks because this turbo is new but sat to long on the shelf to be warrentied out. Does not matter because I would never put another one of these bombs near my car again. I found a used T3/T4 setup with 500 miles on it for $1100.00 bucks. Includes everything I need except a new down pipe. I really can't pass that up.

If you havn't done it already, open up the 16g and find out what is causing the noises. I would hate to see another new turbo fail on you. Plus if it is rebuildable you can recover some of your losses on ebay.

I did some more searching last night and I think the T3/T4 maybe to much for my car. I built the car to auto cross and the come on time for the t3/t4 is around 3800 RPM's. The EVO 3 B16G is looking pretty good right now. It seems like the B16G has a good reputation, can pull some good numbers, and most of all is street friendly. I did see some guys were having issues with boost creep but most the issues were due to down pipes and porting.

What do you guys think? I kinda answered my own question with the 16G but the T3/T4 is still dancing in my head. If the T3/T4 would not make a good auto crossing turbo then the B16G is going in. Thoughts please.....

As far as my own personal experience, the Big T28 is/was a monster in my car. It is very fun to drive on the street, cause you have instant boost when you mash the gas on the highway, and the car takes off like a bat out of hell. That was daily driving it with 16lbs of boost. Don't know if I'd really recommend it though, as mine died, and a few others here have talked about them dying within a few months of install. I'm getting the bad one taken out this weekend and shipping it back to the company next week. Hopefully, they'll replace it under warranty, and I'll get it back in the car and drive it for a few months. Then I will be able to give better advice on it.
