Im posting this up here for anyone who is considering the comp full race cams. Im running them if my car right now with a fully built 6-bolt on eagle rods with Ross pistons, SI/Manley dual springs/retainers, SS valves ect...I thought my idle was going to be terrible but to my sursprise, it idles like STOCK! it hangs at about 900-1000 when fully warm and just purrrrrrs.....you cant even tell i have the big cams in it. i drove it around the first time with 0 miles on the motor and the off boost and low end response with part throttle seemed very good and streetable. Overall, im happy with the cams and everything else. i have a huge FMIC also running a 14b right now to break in the motor and it all seems VERY responsive. the 14b will be off soon in place of my AGP setup. i cant wait. just wanted to help anyone out looking to do these cams or anything else in my setup.

Yes, im running 450's at the moment...I didnt want to overdue it with my 780's on the 14b, but man, i was expecting a lope from the cams but its perfect. never dies on me and just feels awesome. the only problem im working out right now is that there is a whining noise coming from the t-belt side on startup but ill take it all back off eventually and see whats running. Its probably just my PS belt though or something stupid. See my profile for my mod list.

Hmmm, you are running stock boost and stock injectors and haven't hammered the car yet on your new setup. Maybe the review would have been best saved for when you could actually review the cams?

He has ZERO miles on a brand new built engine, and you want him to boost like 18psi? :thumbdown Give him time, let him break the motor in. I think his review were for how the cams did at idle/part throttle, since bigger cams can make a car stall, or a lumpy idle.

No joke, no use boosting the hell out of a brand new engine. I don't know where someone would have interpreted this as a performance review?

I too enjoyed this review as all of the ninnies out there keep telling me my car is going to run like crap with my HKS 272's. :p

 I didn't say he should be boosting the piss out of his new engine, I just thought a more complete review could be had at a date in the near future when the engine was broken in and then we could hear about the performance gain as well, which should be more important than how the idle sounds.

Dont you worry VRMAN. I will have a full review later on. I wanted to post up how it is daily driving and i can honestly say that i can daily drive my car just fine...Ive produced boost allready, but it has only been like 5 psi....To properly "break-in" a new built motor, you need to open it up a little bit in the RPM's to make sure the piston rings set. Plus, i pull a fuel trim malfunction code on my dsmlink and i cant get on it because it just stutters at about 4.5k or so. Im not worried about it though. My 780's and 50 trim will be on soon enough. :thumb:

The "full-throttle" review on these cams will be soon enough. I cant wait to see how it pulls tuned on 22 psi on the 50trim with pump gas! OMG :dsm:

Good Luck. Do you have a wideband to go with the DSMLink to tune with? With that kind of setup, it's definately worth it :) Looking forward to seeing your results. I am curious to see how much timing you can get on pumpgas at that kind of boost.

Yes, I have the Innovate Motorsports Wideband also. Timing will be an issue but it is do-able. It will hit the dyno soon as well. I have to make sure all the bugs are worked out of it though. Like i said, i will have 2 maps for my car. One on pump and one on race gas(110). On race gas i will be running 25-26 psi.

actually the proper way to break in a motor is doing 3rd gear highway pulls, babying it for the first 1k mi or w/e many times the rings wont seat properly.

Not to sound like a dick, but can someone post some real world results from a dynosheet or something. Just posting about how it "feels" doesn't help much. That's just my .02. :thumbdown

Also, they idle nicely?  Who wants that?

People who like daily driving there cars....It idles good for whats in it. The idle is a little ihgh right now and if it were to be dropped down, it would lope.

About breaking in the motor, trust me, i know. Ive done pulls and ive made sure to de-cellerate a ton. I read the whole article on break-ins allready and things are going fine.

this is my thought exactly give a review when you are hitting the carhard :shhh: . because he just might come back later when the car is broken in and say the cams are no good on the top end or something like this. a full complete wot review is definitely appreciated around here.

And we already established that this was not the purpose of this review. It was to prove to all of the sissies out there that agressive cams don't hurt idle as much as they want to believe so they can think of reasons to not scare away small animals. :p BTW, I highly doubt they will reduce top-end performance if the cam is allowing the flow to increase. Supporting mods will determine this.

But yes, we'll have to hear a performance review soon.

I'll have a review for my 272's this week. Aight! :thumb:

I'd like to see you drive the piss out of the car with the 14b still on it, and then see what it's like with the new AGP setup.
