E-mail I recently took the hose off of my 1g eclipse BOV that runs from the BOV back to the turbo, to open it up so I could get some sound out of it. When i did I capped the side coming off the turbo and I put a filter on the BOV side. When I was out driving I noticed that it was idleing funny and then when I would let off the gass at a higher rpm the engine would die. I was wondering if anyone would know what would have caused this problem.

I cannot tell if this question is a joke or not. If it is, subtle. If it isn't, uncap the intake and please set your bov back up properly. If you don't understand that you are letting metered air leak out of your intake and that this is causing your problems you really shouldn't be modifying the car.

that's because you're not supposed to do that to a stock system. Air is leaking from the bov that the maf sensor already accounted for. To get the sound you should run a GM MAFT setup with a different bov. If you do some searching on the site there's lots of threads that contain the info you need.

yea I thought it was a Joke too, wow anyway you could do a thing called SEARCH! or im sure your gonna get it worse from everyone else on this board

I'm getting sick of all these damn ricers wanting to vent their bovs and not doing it properly. You don't have a gm maf so leave that hose on or live with the side effects for a little increase in sound  . And for gods sake do some searching people!!!!

WOW Even the newbiest of newbs should know not to do that WOW
I'm gonna have to second that "WOW" OMG

it dies because your venting into an air filter.....why would you want to filter the air exiting your bov if ur venting....WHY ARE YOU VENTING!.....Yuo ar3 teh NUB! :thumbdown

why is everybody being so agressive. You go the appropriate answers in the first few posts. The bov was designed to work on the TEL (lots of air) as opposed to make sound like they do on some cars (4-6 psi).

Hook it back up like stock and you should be good to go.

Do this only if you are comfortable with your auto/mechanical skills. It will give you some sound and, I'll be darned, allow you bov to hold more psi.

Before a hijacking of the thread takes place regarding this mod, I know there are like 10 different opinions on this mod, I just know I did it for the additional resistance to leaking and as a side effect there was more sound from the bov.

Well, for what it's worth.

take the filter off your BOV, and use "racing tape" to cover your intake just in case cap isn't sealing properly...
