Want to buy a garett 16g hybrid from extremeturbo

has anyone had any experiance with this turbo and its the install hard? im curious about the coolant lines and what knot I have never installed a turbo before just repaired and rebuilt them, any comments would help thankyou
 
Garrett 16g hybrid?

What the hell is in this turbo? Sounds like an overpriced and underperforming idea.
 
yes I have read that, but I dunno why that stuff would happen, shaft play after 3k miles? all the parts are made by garett, and im sure they are pretty damn durrable wouldnt you think?
 
Like Leon (GRNMCHN) said, a turbo is only as good as its maker. If you notice extreme turbo used to be "DSMperformance" then got bought out. Now whoever owns "Extreme Turbo" is trying to make up for all the junk that came out of the shop that they took over.

Besides, not all garret stuff is bullet proof. They do have a low end series of turbos, with 270 degree thrust bearings that arent that good. I could have recieved one of those bearings, whos knows.

You will get hosed if you buy a turbo form them period.

If you want a hardcore garrett turbo that will last, go to Forced Performance, or at the least Slowboy Racing.

Well, if you "Need" a bigger turbo then a EVOIII 16g, then where's your FMIC?

Wheres your datalogger?

Wheres your fuel pump, 660's, and Adjustable fuel pressure regulator?

Wheres your exhaust?

You need to have supporting mods before "Supporting" a turbo that size.

Besides, if you REALLY knew what you were doing, you'd be able to wring a high-mid 11 second pass out of the EVOIII.

Lose the "Bigger is better" attitude, and pick up a "datalog and tune" frame of mind.

If not, don;t come on here posting about how you got robbed, and that your shiney new turbo shit the bed... :thumb:

1. How do you know it is bigger? Where are you seeing the specs comparing the two?

2. If you want to go bigger than the EvoIII, why don't you go with something that actually works like a BR20g, a TDO6H 20g, or on of the million 50 trim hybrids?
 
Daniel Portera (portera motorsports/extremeturbo.com) is a great guy, however I don't know what the conditions are that led him to get bought out and move back from Fairplay, SC to Pelham, AL. It was cool to have a local DSM shop, but the last time I need some parts and tried to get in touch with him, all I got was voicemail and no return calls. Not very reassuring. I personally have an EVO3 and think that it is a great all around street/strip turbo and that would be the answer to 90% of people needing their first turbo upgrade. Unless you have a well sorted car and years of DSM experience, you probably won't need anything else.
 
WOH WOH WOH guys I didnt mean to get any negitivity back, I know the evo III is a kick ass turbo and yea Im buying everything in the future, so your all saying I should go with the evo III which I planned on in the beginging until I came across this, I just asked for opionions, no big deal I didnt me to piss anyone off. I am ordering the evo III, you have all done your job :) thank you very much :thumb:
