I am looking at buying a '92 GSX A/T for a good price. I was wondering how much work and money it would take to swap out the auto and make it a 5-speed? I would appreciate any estimates and parts lists.

Why the hell do you want a 5 speed so bad? If it matters that much it be easier and cheaper in the long run to buy a 5-speed in the first place. But with the automatic remember, shifting takes time, automatics shift FAST, your turbo never stops spinning, you have consistency and on top of it all you wont burn your tires trying to get of the line........take the auto and get on with life dude.

Automatics shift fast AFTER you modify them, unmodified they simply suck.

But if you want 5spd, buy a 5spd car. Dont waste your time with a A/T if its not want you want.

Automatics shift FASTER after you modify them, but I bet a stock auto can still shift faster than you.

Now drivetrain power loss is one thing about autos that does simply suck...

Right now, yes I bet auto does. But I havent owned an 5spd car in 8 months now so Im pretty rusty. I just think they are boring and harder to make them do exactly what you want when you want.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I guess I will keep on shopping till I find a 5-speed. I wouldn't drive an A/T, I like to drive the car, not have the car drive me.;)
