Yes i have read all the threads that have been posted recently about this, and im going to be ordering one in about a week. Now i know that bar and plate cores are better, but they are also more $$, and since im in school, im on a very tight budget.

Im looking at a 31x8x2.75 IC, im pretty sure thats end to end, not core size. Its a tube and fin design. I contacted the seller and he said that IC will flow 750 cfm up to 450 hp with around 1psi drop. Im running on a stock ported 14b, stock fuel, AFC, 3" exhaust, i just want something to cool better.

My question is, will this do the trick, or is maybe a little too big? He also has a 6" high unit that flows 550 cfm up to 350 HP. I need help guys, what should i get?

And yes i know this is my 3rd post about FMIC's, i just dont really know a whole let right now, and need as much help as i can get. thanks :thumb:

That FMIC is not high enough. With only 8"x2.75" for air to flow thru that will just become a bit of a bottleneck. You should be looking for 10-12" high and keep in mind lots of advertised flow rates are just BS, don't believe everything you read. A good example is those Street Import FMIC, the big one is advertised to flow 900cfm, DSMJim said he had the same one tested and only flowed 490cfm...

But if you plan on just keeping the 14b then you should be fine.

I'm on a tight budget too (w/ similiar setup and keeping the 14b too), and I've come to the conclusion that I should look elsewhere to upgrade. I can't really afford to drop 300-400$ on an IC that would be ideal. I might upgrade the pipes or do something else, like injectors.

what is a good flow rate for a FMIC if using an Evo Big16G? i picked up the biggest one of those StreetImports when it was on clearance (12x24x3). right now i'm only running the 14b, but plan on doing the Evo16G next spring (still working out fuel issues) In my honest opinion, the intercooler is pretty nice. the inlets aren't as big as advertised though, but rather about 2.25" inlet/outlet

back on track, will that IC be enough? mainly the inlet/outlet sizes or should port them out a little. it is defintely thick enough to do so. also, i plan on running a 2.25" pipe from the Turbo to the IC, then 2.5" up to the TB? should this setup work OK?

thanks
~Kurt

ps... my '93 Turbo supporting mods: 2.5" turboback exh, AFC, Walbro255, 2.5" Dave Brode UICP, plugs, wires, probably 550cc injectors by this fall. boost & EGT guage, and digital voltmeter for A/F. possibly hooking up laptop as well if needed
