Im gonna be installing Oil and water temp gauges, as well as an oil pressure gauge soon. This is in addition to a oil cooler/filter relocation kit that i assembled. I am trying to figure out the best location for these senders.

becuase the system will include a theremostat should put the sensors as close to the engine as posible? so that i show the temperture and pressure going back into the engine?

also i assume i just tap a hole into the houseing outside of where the thermostat is mounted to check the water temp? is the a better place? wouldent this just show the temp of the colant that inst in the engine until the thermostat opens?

oh i had a few more questions:

the stock water temp sensor must be left in because the ecu using it to determine when the car has warmed up?

can i replace the stock oil presser sender with my autometer one? or does the computer require this info?

same question as above just with the oil temp sensor..?

autometer gauges use npt thread fittings that have a different number of threads per inch, the stock sensors have the same diameter taps, but bpt (british pipe thread) fittings have more threads per inch so they will crossthread. I wouldn't recommend screwing the autometer oil pressure sensor into the stock fitting. Here's a link with more information about types of pipe threads. http://www.eldonjames.com/frames/thread.html

When I ran an autometer oil pressure gauge, I completely removed the stock sensor and the car ran fine. I did leave the water temperature one connected though and ran my own. I think the sensor on the radiator is sufficient for the fans, but I never played around with it, I can only tell you what worked for me.

Yea I also put the autometer oil press sender in the stock location. If your not sure on the threads put the two theads on top of each other if all the theads "fit" in and there is no gaps between the threads then they are the same.
