I currently have 130k miles on my 2g w/ a pretty new tranny in it. I was wondering whether it would be more worthwhile to rebuild my 7 bolt engine and slap a turbo on it and keep my new tranny in, or swap to a EVO III block/tranny (6 Bolt) with a EVO III 16G already on it.

your probably going to spend about the same amount of money rebuilding 7 bolt and then buying a turbo for it.i would just rather get a the evo motor which is 6 bolt motor and can hold alot more than your 7 bolt.plus if your going to build a motor make sure its a 6 bolt.your better off droppin the evo motor in ur car

1.upgraded engine bolts
pistons
valves
springs
engine rebuild labor
also the fear of crankwalk on a new rebuild engine
ALL THAT and is going to be up there....$$$$$

2.THE EVO engine is a cheaper alternative for more power hunger people... but shipping and time and reto fitting is a factor too, and is not rebuilt (just a used engine).... BUT ALSO you get to tell people about the JDM EVO ENGINE under your hood

3. a built up 1g engine is a cheaper options and will get you power also

it just depends on power and price goals

You would be better off building a 6 bolt because there is nothing special about that EVOIII compared to a build 6bolt. There is no comparision between a built and a used engine .
