i just bought a turbonetics 64trim compressor wheel and housing for my garrett TO4E, after i finish the rebuild does the turbo have to be sent out to be balanced? i know this may sound like a dumb question, but no one has given me a straigh answer

Absoutly! Not balancing the wheels will cause the turbo to fail rapidly just like a race engine needs to be balanced. The turbo will be happy spinning free using all of its potential.
I need to get my 14b I just rebuilt out to Forced performance to get it balanced.

Call them up! I see no reason why they would not wish to take your money to perform a service ;)

SOME turbos have each wheel balence separatly, not as a unit (assembled) in which case you dont HAVE to get them rebalenced.. but i woudelnt risk it..

At Forced Performance we charge $37.50 to balance the rotating assembly. You need to send in all the parts you are using in your turbo that spin, the shaft, CW and collar stackup under the CW and the shaft nut.

Be balance the CW, then the TW then assemble it and rebalance as an indexed assembly. We also check the runout of the shaft and can straighten it if it is with allowable limits.

Balancing of your parts can usually be done with 1-2 days of recieving your parts.

That's funny. I phoned forced performance earlier and was quoted 245$ to balance my rebuilt turbo, even if i disassembled it before i sent it. I was also told that they could not straighten my shaft, which was said could be done (in the above post), and instead, quoted me Another 245$ for a new shaft. I was told that Turbonetics is the only place that has the ability to straighten a shaft, and they do not do customer work.

Wow! did you get the guys name?
$37.50 if you send the assembly in.

If you send the entire turbo in and want me to disassemble and reassemble then you might be looking at $345 if used or $175 if it is brand spanking new.
I can straighten shafts, done it sucessfully several times, but if it is bent in two, or enough you can actually see it then noone can helo you. New TDO5h turbine wheels are $237.50

Sorry you were told different

i want to sell my bad FP big t28 back to FP, it has a bad turbine wheel and paying $400+ to get it repaired is bullshit.

are you posting that OT post here to get my attention?
If so, what are you expecting me to say?

I have already sent two emails within the past week to [email protected] without a reply, which is why i called. I even called back and left a message stating my situation, and a reference to this post with a number and time to call back, but still nothing.

on my 16G, i can visually see the shaft wobble, but it just moves a cunthair.

Can i take the shaft out of my 14B and use that?

The turbo is freshly rebuilt with new bearings, thrust washer, and seals. All i need to do is balance the thing. I can send you the 14B shaft, 16g compressor wheel, shaft nut, and anything else you need as long as you will honor the 37.50 for a balance.

Yes, I told you that based on what you told me about your turbo, my name is Cory BTW. You said you could see it wobble pretty bad. (most likely out of tolerance for us to straighten) You said it was assembled (we will have to dissassemble it and rebuild it to our spec because we won't take somone else's rebuild done somwhere else and risk our name if it was done crappy, cost $245 generally $345 if we provide the parts, $245 if we reuse your' parts since it was just done) I also stated that Turbonetics is the only company that I know of that balance's the CHRA all assembled, we do it with the rotating assy. not the whole assembled CHRA( maybe you misundrstood me?) Shafts are $237.50 if you needed a new one. Ok so you add up you sending me a whole assembled CHRA, unbalanced and we will charge you $245, the $237.50 for the new shaft. Now if you send us the rotating assy. it's only $37.50. MAybe I should have been more clear.

It's just been brought to my attention that quoting prices is against DSM tuner policy,
I apoligize. Please call with any further inquiries, we're happy to answer any questions that way.
