WHat would i need and how much will it cost to put a 14b on a 2g awd dsm?

Would i be able to do the work myself or should i get it done by someone else?
 
why a 14b man? there not that much of an upgrade from a t25. they only run like 18 very max. u could get like a 20g or a green and run like 20 psi without internals. also u sould get a new upper intercooler pipe with metal bov fitting. that rubber bov fitting might shoot off with so much pressure from turbo it will blow a hole through your hood and could hit someone and kill them. and u wouldnt want that all because u were to lazy to buy a upper ic pipe. haha jk. but yea id suggest gettin one if u havent already.
 
Well i want a good turbo till i upgrade in the near future to a l2r and i thought the 14b would be a good cheap turbo till the l2r.:|
 
I'm doing the exact same thing on my 2G TSi AWD. The 14b can be boosted to 21PSI. It can also support up to 325 HP with the right mods. This turbo can be a great stepping stone if you are staging your power and your mods. Also, if you get the RRE kit, you get stainless braided oil lines, J-Pipe, and all the other goodies you're going to need if you're planning on going with a bigger turbo down the road. If you're looking to build your car up RIGHT, and by this I mean taking your time, the 14b is an excellent choice. Remember that 12's on a 14b is not at all out of the question.

exactly, the 14b can take 2g owners and give them a hell of a lot better base to start building our cars, i think its the best turbo to run WHILE u get the supporting mods for a big ass turbo, and still run better than high 13s, which is the best i've SEEN with a t-25, and that is totally maxing it out, cause it'll be good in the 1/4 mile, but if u go at it with someone on the street from a roll, u can bet ur ass u'll be toast 5 seconds after u go WOT:)
 
14B's are a good starting point. I was going to get a 14B but everyone on dsmtrader.com wanted $200 for there turbo. So i started looking for 16G and they went for $300-$400. So i decided to go with a used 16G, they have less miles than a 14B and look newer. I was gonna buy one for $300 when the guy took it off his car the exhaust housing was total so he gave it to me for $150 and i just order buschur's 7cm housing for $140.

Why? Let me see, because it is 10mph or 1 sec faster in the ¼ mile… We have several 2G guys with 14b turbo running 12.7-12.9 (with minimal other mods). That is exactly 1 sec faster than what most people run on a T25.

I have heard people belittle 14b for many years now. That is why 2 years ago I set the 14b record of 12.05 at 113.5. BTW my record was just broken with 12.02 at 112.5. That shows that you it is it not the 14b turbo that keeps most people form reaching mid or low 12’s, but rather poor tuning and driving.

That might be true, but I am yet to see anyone put in a 14b and then take it out and go back to a T25, because it was too laggy. The extra power on top (as much 80hp), is well worth 500rpms of extra spool time…

To install it you can ether buy RRE’s hacker kit for a bit more you can get a complete kit from BR (RRE’s full kit is slightly more expensive). In ether case, it will cost you $200-$350 to install the 14B. But once you install the 14B, upgrading to a 16G will be a strict bolt-in.
