Did you do it yourself or have a shop do it?

Is it as hard as the RRE/Magnus directions look? I got access to all the
tools needed.

Search please!! In fact, there's a thread right on the main page about 1gina2g

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=116424

Now, as far as how many did the swap, let's say hundreds.

Who performed the swap, everybody from the local shop to someone's 100 year old grandmother.

If you know what you are doing and take your time reading and doing research you will find out that the job isn't all that bad. It's certainly time consuming, especially with lots of custom fabrication of sensors, brackets and widgets.

Thanks for linking me to info I already knew, not what I was looking for. I've printed out all the info from Magnus and RRE. I'm asking about the difficulty for those that have done it themselves. This is my 3rd DSM, I'm not the exact Newbie you might think I am. I dont have time to search through 1000's of threads to find one or 2 post in each thread relating to the info I need.

I just did the swap over the winter in my driveway. There is no fabrication/widgets needed like blackawdturbo is referring too. I never did a job like this before and now we are making money doing it for people. Not that bad and there is plenty of info out there. There is a yahoo group called "DSM1gina2g", join that at Join Here Ask all the questions you want on there and not get flamed.

What makes you think that we have the time to tell you everything you need to know, even though it's already out there?

Bullshit. There are some things that ned to be built or adapted, there is no way around that.

Dude, settle down. No one's questioning your intellect, however doing a little research on your own goes a long way towards promoting that "good" image of yourself. You aren't going to find the golden ticket answer you are looking for, since everyone has a "different" opinion or more importantly experience in doing the swap. Just because you don't have the time to look through 1000's of questions regarding the swap doesn't mean we do either. It's not exactly like you stated a specific question about this such as (I'm getting Random Misfire please help me avoid this without dropping money on DSMLink)

Done yet?

4twenty, have you done the swap? If you have then you'll quickly realize some of the custom work involved, like say mounting the coilpack, etc. Heck, even wiring the CAS is "Custom" for certain people hence the reason I indicated to 90 AWD that is subject to much interpretation. Why don't you post go over to 1gina2g and start post whoring it up. Maybe I can introduce you to my buddy Sean over there. He'll make sure you're properly introducted.

I'm NOT asking for info on how to do the damn swap. I'm asking how difficult it was for those that have done it. I know what I need to do. I have all the info I need. If you dont know or havent done it then dont answer, its a simple concept. aparently you havent. It looks difficult by the RRE/Magnus instructions.

like the title asked WHO HAS DONE THE SWAP, you know PERSONAL expeirance.

Yes I have done the swap in my own car and you said fabrication and widgets which there is none needed. My coil pack bolted to the 1g bracket and then to the intake mani. Other than that if you call connecting CAS wires and cutting a motor mount fabricating then you need to consult a dictionary. Do you have a 6 bolt in your car all built by your own hands? I am going to make a page that details the swap and will explain what parts you will need and from what years. Just make sure you have a manual and you should be all set.

Ok, first off STFU. Apparently you don't know me all that well because if you did, you'd realize that I HAVE done the swap. In fact, check the 1gina2g boards for posts I have made helping others out. I'm not telling you HOW to do the swap, if you read my post carefully I said you are NOT going to get a straight answer as to how hard the job is because EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT OPINION. Get the wax out of your ears and listen up.

And 4twenty, in case you don't know this I'll let you in on a little secret. Yes there are no magical widgets, I was merely coining a phrase to account for the little subtleties encountered when perfoming the swap because EVERYONE has them! Again, for the 3283327283827 time I said everyone has differing opinions on doing the job and to some people, rewiring a component of the car that was originally not meant in the design IS FABRICATION.

I'm done

When i got my talon there was no engine so i opted to just drop in a 6bolt. Keep in mind that i had no prior mechanical experience save minor things such as tuning my car up. I was able to do the swap and my car ran great till the timing skipped. You really won't need any "special tools" except to grind the motor mount to fit and it's a pretty straightforward swap if you do the magnus method.

Instead of the damn arguing you could have just simply said..

"yea I did the swap.. I did/didnt have many problems.....be careful when you do "x" step... The magnus/RRE are/are not accurate....

but no you got to be a god damn search nazi....

Its assholes like you that ruin sites like this....you would rather write a book bitching than to write two damn sentences with you expirence doing the swap

wow simple... THATS THE ANSWER I WAS LOOKING FOR.

thanks... thats what kind of answer I was looking for....

why is it people would rather spend teh whole thread bitching in 4 or 5 post than to answer wtih 1 helpful post like that.

90 AWD I wont bi*** about your post man. I to had many questions about the swap when I did it myself. Turned out pretty good. Sent you a pm also cause I am not to far from ya and willing to help out anytime. -Ryan

he he...i love this board, so much drama. Its like reading a soap opera :D

uh..lets see i cant add much to help you out.. other than if you switch the triger wires at the injector harness and not at the ECU pins..you may want to extend the wires, that and well solder everything.
Oh oh oh and also you cant use the intakemanifold bracket (the one that bolts under the intake manifold and also bolts to the block) because the A/C gets on the way, so just leave it off.

Did you rebuild the engine?
