Any complications from 14b to Evo 16g on 1g Talon?

I am looking for some people who have installed the big Evo 16g turbo on their 1g. I am pulling in to much air and hitting fuel cut on basically like 11lbs of boost. I am going to be switching out my 1g mass for a 2g mass and I believe that will help some and allow more air to flow before cut off. My question is, has anyone made this upgrade and had this type of problem? If so... how did you aleviate it... I will be upgrading my injectors to 660cc's very soon, as well as upgrading my fuel pump. Any ideas on how to work with this before then though?

Not much you can do, that's what happens when you isntall a turbo before supporting mods.

Well, actually I just purchased the car on Friday. So we had to work bugs out of it since the guy who had it before me only knew it had a turbo and such... he installed the big evo 16, and when he sold it... he took his 24 inch+ intercooler off it, he has some 550cc injectors... but my friend advised me to go with 660's. So what basically do you think I need to get it running well so I can atleast get MOST out of what the turbo has to offer?

Until you get some supporting mods, I wouldn't run over 10-11 lbs. Every set up is different, but I just installed the Evo III last week. Check my mods for what all is on my car. Basically, I have most supporting mods, (except for the fmic!) I got the turbo from FP, they ported it, I installed the 34mm wastegate, ported the hell out of a 2G o2Housing, and installed. With the stock smic on 93 octane, I am currently running 19 lbs with no boost creep (l got lucky) and the only knock I am logging is 2 counts @ 4400 rpm with timing advance anywhere from +24 to +43.

What's being used to adjust for the larger injectors? If you go 2g mas, it matches very well with 550cc injectors with very little tuning.

at decel or what?
If you have nothing worthwhile to add to this post, don't post. If it is any of your business, I logged 3 runs, and I had 32 degree timing advance twice, and peaked at +43 at 5900rpm. I am just reporting what my logger said. Please don't be a smart ass, I don't have time to reply to stupid comments.   :thumbdown

I would definatly reccomend the 660's, I just installed my 2Gmaf and 550's and I have to add alot of % to the safc to get it right. Every car is different but if I had 660's I would have more room for adjustment on the safc. I'm going to try and raise my fuel psi in order to lower my safc settings. Good luck and let us know how you make out.:thumb:

i installed my 255 pump, ported evo3 manifold, ported evo316g, and 550cc injectors, and my safc2 all at once. I didnt have ne problems. I did hit fuel cut once, because my SAFC was way out of whack. anyways, u just need to get some supporting mods and everything will be just fine.

If your hitting fuel cut at 11 pounds then turn down the boost. A turbo is not a bolt on and go upgrade. Adding a 2g mas will only further your problems. If you do not get some kind of air fuel controller such as a apexi safc then you will never allieviate your problem. A 2g mas is supposed to read like 30% rich that means you'll run 30% lean (just an estimate) people say that 550 or 660 injecters ( I cant remember which ) will adjust out the difference just about right and maybe it does BUT to tune it right you will need a fuel controller and a data logger. If you want to turn the boost up of course you will have to upgrade fuel pump before anything else, which you said you will be getting. So to make a long story short turn down the boost before you run to lean and completly #### up your motor before you have a chance to enjoy it.

Ps: in the case that you dont have a boost controller just dont drive the hell out of it before you do your supporting mods just take it easy until then. Just my $0.02
