question about hoses on intake manifold.

On my 2.0 intake manifold i have 3 hoses coming out toward the passenger side that go up toward the front of the car. Embossed on the intake by the hose outlets are A1, E, and P. The hoses each have colored stripes on them, yellow, green, and red. Theres also A2 embossed just to the left of A1, but theres no hose outlet, but looks like there could be.

What are these, and how important are they. Main reason is because the other end of these is rotted off and not connected to anything anymore.

i'm guessing here your refering to the vacuum hoses on your throttle body.....

if you look on the under side of your hood you will see a vacuum line diagram. this will let you know where each hose goes.

off the top of my head i dont know which goes where, but i believe they are all part of the emissions system. they goto the egr valve, etc.

but with your year car, you could actually remove all of them and cap off where they used to connect to.

those hoses go to emissions stuff in the car and should atleast be capped off otherwise youd have a massive vacuum leak

do I need to cap off just the hoses from the TB, or should I cap off where they go to as well?

you need to cap off all of the TB..... you do not need to cap off those little canisters on the firewall, but once you remove the lines from them then you might as well just remove them from the the car. but you do need to cap off the ones that go onto the EGR valve, unless you plan to install a block off plate. if your not removing the charcoal canister i would probably cap those off as well just to assure no fuel vapors escape. if you do remove canister then plug the remaining hose or two that is left behind. this hose is vent to your fuel tank.

yeah.. i capped off the throttle body and removed everything else that the hoses has run to in the car
