Question on modifying my AFPR

I have a Aerospeed AFPR on my car. I'm pretty sure it's Aerospeed anyway. Basically its' like the B&M one that just modifies the stock FPR.

Anyway, I also have a Walbro 255 high pressure fuel pump and my base FP is about 48psi. That is the lowest I can set it.

Can I open up the AFPR and just just a coil or two off of the spring inside so I can lower my base pressure to the recommended 36psi?

I have a spare spring, but wanted to ask first before doing this. The damn car is running quite rich and the only time it actually feels like it has balls is when it's cold outside and the air is dense.

I'm just trying to get this thing running in top form. Im pretty sure cutting the internal spring will solve this problem. The car is nowhere near ready for a SAFC.

thanks.

I don't think anyone has done this before and I'd be wary of cutting a coil off (you know what that does do suspension spring  ) It may not give you the 1:1 ratio at that point which would be worse.

I know that you said it was not a B&M, but if it is anything like a B&M the pressure cannot be turned down.

Cutting a spring makes it stiffer, I am learning this as I modify my motorcycle suspension. Replacing the spring with less tension may work, however my advice would be to invest in a more functional unit.

Where could I get a spring with less tension at?

thanks so far for the help.

Don't bother getting a new spring.

The reason the stock FPR, and any modded stock FPR (like yours) cannot keep the base pressure down is the return hole is simply too small. Regardless of what spring you use, the hole will continue to be too small, and you will have the same issue.

The only solution is a proper FPR.
