why are evo intercoolers crap?

at $200 a pop, they don;t seem to be so ba, I measure the core thickness and its a good 2.5" and decent dimensions too, don;t have any idea why everyone here says its not worth it.

any insights?

I hear that they only support around 300hp and at that price you can buy one of these that support 300-400hp.
