switching to a 14B turbo

I currently have a T-25 and I believe its gone cause Im burning alot of oil.... I was just wandering if anyone knows what I would need to change over to a 14B turbo........also does anyone know what happens when the seals are gone in the turbo...just how i would know if the turbo is the source of the car smoking please help DSMers

You will need a 2G install kit that any one of the various dsm vendors sell. You can also try and locate the peices seperatley and pay less.

You have a t-25 on you 1990? For some reason I remember the stock turbo being the 14b, on 1st gen cars.

even if hes an automatic he would not have a t25 i believe they are 13g on an auto

All of the 90 vehicles should be plumbed for the 14b (please correct me if i am wrong)

The best way to know if it is really the turbo is to take it off...If you are smoking right when you start it up and it is still cool it is probably not the turbo. This is because the exhaust is not yet hot enough to burn the oil that far from the actual cylinder.

Why are you installing a 14b BACK onto the car?
Why did the car have a t-2small on it in the first place?

If he is going from a 13g to a 14b, he'll need a new coolant line. I think it's the return line because of the TD04/TD05 differences.

Oil feed line is different too, it's smaller at the turbo.

hey fellas its a 97 GST...i had crankwalk and i just recently had slowboy do a 6 bolt swap with a stage 3 built engine....drove car for about 1000 and it started smoking like crazy....usually when it starts after warming up....im going to a 14B for now just to see if it quits smoking its a cheap alternative...i have a 96 TSI AWD with a blown engine that when I get the smoking problem solved is gonna see the built motor...only the motor tho i have plans for a FP 3052 or 3065 beast.... anyways the 90 GSX is one I have sitting behind my house Im going to pull the motor from that and put it in my GST to sell since its already prepped for the swap....plus the motor on the 90 only has 90000 and runs strong anyways I just want to know exactly as far as parts what Ill need to just make the transfer from T-25 to 14B.....thanx for the info
