Edmonton,
k well i am definetely getting a maft blow thru set up, but i wanna hack my own 2.5 inch intercooler piping to save me money, n e way, what is the best way to install the 3"mas in the intercooler piping for the cheapest yet most effective way. because i have heard of ppl using couplers from Home Depot and they wont hold, what if i bring it to a muffler shop and get them to weld it with reducers and shit. would that work? any other suggestions people?

If you have true 2.5" UICP, you can goto RRE's website and order the GM MAF silicon 3.25" to 2.5" reducers for $22 a piece plus the proper T-bolt clamps. Those parts should work and not pop off your piping. It's going to cost around $60+ but I think it's worth it..

i think that is worth it too, does anyone have pics of this installed? how much of the pipe has to be cut out? thanks for the help

DAMMIT! i call RRE cause on the website it says their backordered for that part, and they have been back ordered since december, and they dont know who else carries them. man this sucks! does anyone know of anyone else who sells this part?

wow theres lots of shit there, what parts do i need exactly? i dont think they have the 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch. will 3 - 3.5 inch work?

homedepot couplers are alright for a while. i was at 22psi and by the end of the day i put a slit an inch long in one.

i suggest you get something a little better.

Domenico,

That's a real bummer cause I just ordered the 3.25" to 2.5" reducers and T-bolt clamps from RRE on 2/18 and they arrived today.. Maybe just the larger reducers for the 3.5" GM MAS were on back order??

yeah that sucks cause i am gonna buy the 3.5 inch mas from ongreenperformance cause i think their the cheapest there, but n e way i hope i can get this ASAP!

should i get this one???
Turbo Hose (Straight) SuperRed-Gloss (4-Ply Aramid) 3.50 ID x 3.00 Long x 0.160 Wall (use w/2 ea T-Bolt Clamps-P/N: 60392-33)
or
Turbo Hose (Straight) SuperRed-Gloss (4-Ply Aramid) 3.75 ID x 3.00 Long x 0.160 Wall (use w/2 ea T-Bolt Clamps-P/N: 60417-33)

cause thats the inside diameter size, and i dont wanna go to small and get screwed. would i be safer going 3.75 inch?

Dom,

I don't think you want straight sections of hose. I think you want to look at the "transistion" hosing sections. Something like this one: Turbo Hose (Transistion) SuperRed-Gloss (4-Ply Aramid) (3.00 ID to 3.50 ID x 3.00 Long) x 0.160 Wall (use w/2 ea T-Bolt Clamps-P/N: 60342-33 & 60392-33)

The problem you're going to have it getting it to fit you UICP that is only 2.5" ID. That .5" is going to be a PITA to compensate for. That is most likely the reason RRE is backordered on the 2.5 to 3.5 reducers..

I ended up making a 2.5" upper pipe for my blow through with mandrel bent tubing from dynomax. I took a 180* bent piece and had to make one cut and weld, and weld the BOV flange also. It turned out alright with some wet sanding and buffing. But I am still stuck with home depot couplings. I would really like get some nice silicone couplings, but they seem to be kind of hard to find.

Just thaught I would put my 2 cent in about making my own UICP for a blow through setup. My total cost were probably about $35 for materials.

Good luck with the project. Please post any good sights for silicone couplings you find.

Here is a pic of the UICP.

well that site seems okay for the silicone couplings, but i dont think that i am gonna buy the clams cause their expensive, i might just use cheap clamps from home depot, but well see i guess.
