I just saw an ad for a 95' talon tsi awd, power moonroof, 17" rims, TSW VX1, Alpine 6 disc cd changer, alpine alarm, lowered 2", kyb shocks, eibach springs 108k miles, 5spd. 3 grand.

BROKEN TIMING BELT!!!!!!!!!
Is this car worth it with a broken t belt? How much does it cost to replace? I heard that once the t-belt snaps the engine is never the same.. true?

Well blue book is around $5000 for a FWD, don't remember what I read 4 the AWD. D.I.Y. And it'll run you around $120 for gaskets, $60-$80 for belts, and you can buy a remanned head for $400-$500! So what $4000-$4500 for a $5000-$6000 car? You do the math and figure what it would run ya. MHO yes!

I doubt the pistons are any good. Figure on a full longblock. Call some junkyards, or do a 1g in a 2g swap.

Overall if the body is in good shape and you can do the repairs, then it's a decent buy. I'd only offer him $1k if it was me though.

John P. you're a cheepass :D

I'd give them 2500 for it.....

Whenever a car snapps a timing belt... makes me wonder just how well they've taken care of the car.

Not like you can test drive it to see if everything else is good (Tranny... etc).

Actually I've seen a number of timing belt failures result in a few bent valves and the pistons were still good. I have one sitting in my garage at the moment.

thanks, yes I do have a full size pic of it. Kind of strange how alot of people have said my car kind of looks like a 92-94 model in that pic.

I don't think im good enough with cars to swap everything myself.. if the damage is all that bad how much would labor costs be? On average?
