Well the story is, I get rid of the T25 thinking I'll run 17-18 psi on the 14b w/ no problems....wrong...
For some reason, the 14b seems just as fast as the T25 and even slower at the lower RPMS (i kinda expected that since it lags a little more) ...but anyways...it seems like my car gets slower when i go WOT or when i hit high boost. It kinda feels like something is holding my car back. I checked all the ic pipes and made sure everything was connected right... and im running about 18 lbs of boost...
Anyone have any idea what it could be? I'm thinking of gettin an S-AFC to tune it but if that's not the problem, I don't want to waste my money...
Thanks

Well, if you just put on a 14b, it wouldnt be a huge difference, but noticable. It could just be that you got a bum 14b. Did u check to make sure there was no shaft play or cracks in the wg area/turbine housing?

i would defintly say that you having timing retard. 18psi without injectors on a 14b isnt really gonna happen. i know u have the fuel pump but he stock smic is a pos and it doesnt like high boost. i would say turn that thing down to about 16psi(which is the stock max range for a 1g witha 14b on stock fuel system)and c what happens. a logger would help too.

You can run that much boost on a 14b with stock injectors. It seems your pulling timing because you dont have enough fuel. I was running 21 and sometimes 22lbs on a t-28 with stock injectors. But I also had an AFPR, 255HP, rewired, and S-AFC and I was doing 29 degrees advance timing. Its all in the tuning. Get an S-AFC and add some fuel. To be on the safe side, just check the turbo also. But I did it and had no problems.

well if it helps...i had the turbo balanced and had new bearings put in it by turbo city....i highly doubt it's the turbo :)...but a friend of mine said the timing might be off like what silvergsx said...so i guess my question is should i go head and get the S-AFC then???...a friend of mine has a datalogger and he knows how to tune so i'll have him do everything for me...

You live in California- you got 91 octane. Welcome to Tuning with Diet Light Pretend Gas.

I also recomend turning the boost down to 14 or 15 psi. It wouldn't suprise me if it was faster at lower boost.

stock injectors.

How the fvck did you do this?? Did you have your base fuel pressure at 60+ and pull the afc corrections WAY down or is this a mistype??

You would have to have 660's or 720's to get airflow low enough (if the 2g's will even give that much) to get the timing that high at wot.

so turn down the boost and use an s-afc and logger to tune right? And turn the boost up til it doesn't wanna cooperate w/ the s-afc , right?
or am i wrong....im brand new to this tuning business...

I drove my friends car yesterday 1g stock except for a k+n filter. I noticed that it does lag a bit more then the T25 but has better top end. I think it might even be faster then my car with my current mods, without the 3" downpipe.

Right, or get DSMlink instead. I think your timing is getting pulled like a couple people have already mentioned-- since you have no tuning tools and stock injectors, your injector duty cycle is likely getting too high, so that the ECU pulls timing.
