I was thinking of taking my car either down to Extreme Motorsports or up to Turbotrix to have them install my cams, cam gears and do a timing belt on my car.. has anyone dealt with either of these shops actually doing work?? Ive done business with both as for buying parts but I dont know anything about either place when it comes to tuning and what not..

Jeff did a lot of motor work for me and I thought he did a great job. He does street tuning with a wide band and I am sure he would have you running great. It is also costs 1/3 less per hr than what most places charge for dyno time. I did some dyno tuning at Extreme a few summers ago. They have a really cool shop its kind of like a DSM mecca. My guess is that Extreme would charge 10-20% more than Turbotrix.

Hhe installed evo pistons on my stock rods and sent my head off for the stage II head work and a few other little things. I think the total bill was like 3k somewhere around there. Jeff’s pricing is very reasonable the only problem is trying to be patient enough for him to fit you in.

Extreme has Extremely high prices and reviews are mixed on their work and service. Jeff at Turbotrix is a good guy, does good work, but is extremely busy and like was mentioned before, you gotta be patient.

If you are going to travel all the way to Turbotrix, I suggest giving DSMotorsport a call. He is a good friend of mine who just opened up his own shop this year. He does great work and has great prices. Give him a call and see what he has to say. 908-362-5532

if you are up this way, let me know. I'll meet up with you to keep busy while the car is getting done. If you want, I can help you tune too.

No, he doesn't really do tuning, but I am sure he can help you out with your tuning. He does installs and sells parts also. There is a dyno 5 minutes from my house. $75 for 3 pulls if you want dyno tuning. I am sure he wouldn't mind going with you and helping you out. I can go also and help you tune too.

i just really want to take the car somewhere and drop it off and have them install the cams and tune it and have a before and after dyno of the cams.. Im curious to how much its making now and how much Ill be making afterwards whcih means I need a shop that most likley has a dyno on location and is experienced in tuning :)

Extreme only has a normal 2 wheel dyno. But down the street Altered Atmosphere does have an awd dyno. However you wont be able to compare your awd numbers to someone’s dynojet numbers. Because the awd dyno will place a greater load on the car and while great for tuning it will report much lower numbers. Also in the Md area is Turbo XS they have an awd dyno too (although theirs is a different type then Altered’s)some excellent tuners as well.

BM Tranny in NJ is getting an AWD dynojet. Pruven has an AWD dynojet also. if you have AWD and dyno on a dynojet, the number will be close to as if you did the FWD conversion to dyno. i was speaking to Dan Cokic and he dynoed his car in FWD and got 415WHP. when they got the AWD dyno, he dynoed at 399WHP. It is close and not that off. I am going up there in a couple weeks. Might bring both cars to see what happens. Definitely going to dyno the 1G. If I do not bring the 2G, it will go up there another time.

Stay away from Extreme MS cause i've heard some bad storys about their work and could never trust them with my car, Sh*t haven't you heard that horror story Jeff Elliot went through with them. Keep far from Altered Atmosphere also... don't even get me started on those people. I have NEVER heard anything bad about Turbotrix though so thats where I would take my car. Hope this helps,

Mario
