Any way to do this. This guy sold me awd trans told me it was fwd trans and guess now am screwed. How hard is it to put 2g fwd trans same number f4a33 in 1g?

i dont get what your tryn to do. are you tryn to use a awd trans in a fwd or are you tryn to put a 2g into a 1g? you can use a 2g trans in your 1g. there is a video that shows you what you got to do im not sure but i want to say its from jafromobile but i could be wrong

I have a 91 talon turbo fwd auto. I have a spare awd turbo fwd auto from another 91. but from reading it won't work . So trying to find the right one but guess a 2g one can work as you said maybe have to watch that video.hopefully its minor changes.

Thanks

He's saying he thought he was buying a 1G FWD auto tranny and got an AWD one instead and if there was anyway to use it in his FWD. He also asked a 2nd question asking if he could, instead, use a 2G FWD auto tranny that he already has (I assume) in his 1G. Do I have that all right AL92?

Here is a thread that was saved before the site went down. This was the process that Jeff Bush from English Racing did to convert his 1G to auto using a 2G auto trans. He needed to be able to use a billet converter. I know that his car is AWD and that it could be different for FWD, but this is what he had to go through:

Installing a 2G auto in a 1G - EVOTech
Installing a 2G auto in a 1G - Page 2 - EVOTech
Installing a 2G auto in a 1G - Page 3 - EVOTech

Also, Jeff doesn't use a TCU and I'm not sure if the 1G TCU will control a 2G tranny because of the converter lockup controls that 2G TCUs have. Hopefully I've at least helped a little... :coy:

No don't have a 2g auto fwd turbo trans but heard they were same to use in 1g fwd with minor messing around.

I just have currently a spare auto awd turbo trans which of course don't sound like it will work but if there is a video getting it to work that would be great. I am not having much luck at all finding any auto fwd turbo cars to get trans from and rebuild cost is very high like 1500 or more dollars. Too bad might be simpler to convert to manual car but I sold this turbo fwd auto car to guy and though that spare was the right one. And non turbo auto trans don't work and are not the same. So might wind up buying the car back from the guy I sold it to and selling it again to someone that wants to convert it to manual, has auto turbo fwd parts car or just wants the engine its rebuilt motor and car is in good shape ,loaded model with good body and glass and interior, leather interior.

I guess auto fwd turbo cars are pretty rare at least around here.

If you weld the center diff, you can use the AWD trans in the FWD. You just need the left side axle from an AWD.

Ok guy I sold the car to is a mechanic and maybe a genius. He has the car running and had been driving it around with the awd trans in the fwd car.He didn't weld the shaft or nothing ,I haven't seen it but assume the shaft is still in there spinning around? Maybe not the best idea but for now its working for him.

So guess they can work at least short term. This at least gives more time to find a fwd trans and in meantime he can drive the car.

Unless the center diff is welded that transmission is NOT going to last much longer...

Hmm well guess have to see how long it lasts. Still going to keep looking for fwd for him. Just really hard to find one lately. Not that many auto fwd turbo cars compared to the manual cars and he wants to stay auto ,at least for now.

It should kinda feel like the clutch is slipping if he didnt weld it.
