I read the code today and I got P1750 Transmission Solenoid Pack.

What happens is sometimes the car will drive fine. Other times it is stuck in 3rd gear (I'm assuming limp mode) unless I turn it off, and back on it usually works fine again.
Is there any way to test these solenoids of being faulty? I don't want to buy a $220 dollar part if that's not it.

Also, is there the possibility that the solenoids are perhaps just dirty which accounts for the not doing it all the time?

Im going to try pulling the tcu code tonight, and see what I get. I tried searching, but couldn't find anything on installing these. Im assuming they are inside the pan, attached to the valve body, and just unplug or disconnect?

They are deep inside the transmission. It'll take about 20 minutes to remove them if the transmission is out of the car and probably a couple of hours if it isn't.

You can test the solenoids by measuring the resistance of their coils. You'll need to find the connector from the solenoids to the TCU and probe the pins using a multimeter. The gear selection solenoids should be about 23 - 25 ohms, while the line pressure control solenoid is roughly 1 - 2 ohms.

If you measure anything substantially different, the solenoids are probably bad. If you measure the correct values, the solenoids may be dirty or they may have mechanical damage.

Thanks for the help Paul. I thought the solenoids were attached to the valvebody? I tried searching everything I could, and they all said they were attached to the valve body?

how do i tell what wires to poke on a 91 talon n/a??? :aha::banghead:

Chico, can we get an update on this? My car is doing the same thing as yours and i need to figure out what it is..

It ended up being solenoid #2 was bad. Since I had the valve body out, I figured I would just replace all 4. Have not had a problem since.

Did you have to take the tranny out to replace them because I have the exact same problem you had? I am thinking they are in inside the tranny???? I just want to know we it be better for me to replace them or take it to the dealer. Please let me asap thanx!
