Background on the car...
I just bought the car and have only driven it for about a day when the problem started.
Car is a 95 Talon Tsi AWD auto. The only Mod is a IPT shift kit. The guy I bought the car from said the shift kit was installed when the trans was rebuilt sometime last year. I drove the car a total of 60 miles maybe with no problems the day I bought it.
Problem starts...
The other day I backed out into my drive and launched the car for the first time just to see how it felt being this is my first auto. After launching the car when I take off in Drive or 2nd the car seems to jump into park just long enough to stop the car. It then will take off again and repeat this over and over. If I pull it down into first it drives fine as well as reverse. I tried to pull codes from the TCU with my multimeter but all I got was long sweeps. I pulled the TCU to visually inspect it and couldn't see anything wrong (No burnt smell or leaky caps)
From my research I'm leaning towards the valve body or maybe the TCU. I just need some help figuring out which it is.
Thanks in advance
I doubt that it's going back into park, but I guess it's possible. Is there anyway you can post a video of this happening? So far it sounds like a sticking valve in the valve body.
The reason I say it feels like its going into park is all 4 tires lock up and drag until the car stops. Then it free revs for a sec and the car goes again. If I just let off the brake and the car starts to roll forward it does it almost immediately. Or If I take off kinda fast It will get up to10 mph or so before it does it. Ill try to borrow a camera to get some video.
