I need to change my transmission fluid and I went to the dealer to buy a filter and he told me that since they don't have the filter in stock that means that I can clean the filter out and use it again. What he said does not sound right, but I just want to make sure is what he said true.

yeah find a filter else where, i know wix make a filter kit for our cars. and i would reccomend a trans flush, that way you can change all the fluid including whats in the torque converter

I would pointedly ask the idiot service manager why they can't go around the corner to Auto Zone, pick up a damned filter, put it in and not bother you about it.

Well, if I ever found myself dealing with a dealer again, that is.

Make sure he didn't charge you to wash that filter.
