medicine hat,
yesterday i finally got to take my talon to the track. its a 95 eagle talon awd auto, and i think it did pretty good. The whole night everyone was talking about how slow the track was....what ever that meant, but my car still pulled a 15.9 with about 30lbs of dynamat installed all over inside the car, and a sub box that takes up the entire hatch. I figured that was definetly reasonable for my car, and besides i never went there too win anything. I went there just to see what my car would run stock, so now i can see what difference mods make to the car. i was actually very supprised that me and a newer style grand prix GTP went up against each other and i won....it ran 16.3xx all night i thought they were faster than that.

Pretty good for your first try. But, You car has alot more in it than that. I ran a 15 flat, untuned, no launch, and I only had one gear down half the track (trans wouldnt shift), then when it finally shifted, I let off and coasted a 15 flat. Of course, my car has alot more work in it than yours but low 15's should be hard for you to get stock. Just keep practicing. Did you boost launch at all? Thatll shave some time off there.

yep i brake boosted, a stock 2g 5spd talon is supposed to do the quarter mile in 15.1, and like i said im an auto, with a huge sub box, and my interior is totaly covered in dynamat. I also had 3/4 tank of gas. Next time i go i hope to remove the sub box and make sure i dont have that much gas. so the weight reduction will make a big difference i think. This last time i went was spur of the monent so i was unprepared. i dont think 15.9 is bad....considering...but it also gives me an idea what the results will be from the mods i do in the future..

No, stock, a 2g 5spd does the 1/4th mile in 14.9 seconds. And some have gotten lower than that, stock. Before you go next time, check for boost leaks, it could be robbing you of some power.

his profile says he was at 1/2 throttle

yea it was when I had 301whp, I put hlf thrtl because thats all i could fit in there.

i was just going from what this site says. http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/0-60times.html

i couldnt believe it, i took a buddy for a rip down the track with me and it added almost 2 seconds!! 17.6xx....thats what makes me think that sub box, and 3/4 tank of gas may have held me back quite a bit more....

Lol, Yea. Just driving with someone else in the car makes the car seem slower. Thatll do it.

15.1 w/ 300whp sucks. LOL. 15.9 yeah theres gotta be boost leaks and some more wrong with the car.

i havent ran 1/4mile yet but my 1/8 time stock was 9.683 in my auto gsx

I Launch my Girlfriends Stock 95 GSX and the thing lauches Soft. That 1/4 time sound like what a stock AWD auto will do. Good job.

On a side note
I went 14.6 on my 5 speed.

each car is its own, meaning yea they are the same but some respond alot different than other thats a fact. i know my stock gsx, when it was stock. i could brake boost til about 2800rpm and then launching on the t25 at 15psi which it was set at for when i went to the track. and still i feel it launches soft also with the upgrades i have done. wish i had the time to get to the track(1/4) and get some slips but the military has me stuck in arizona right now haha. anyways. to stay on topic. 15.9 seems a bit to high IMO, but then again as stated already each car is different.

shift kit, tranny cooler, redshift ATF helped me out alot( i think thats the name of the fluid, been awhile, sorry)

Just to give a reference point for the 1/4 mi Motortrend tested a '95 FWD a/t (turbo) which ran 15.5 @ 90.3 mph. They also tested a '95 AWD m/t -- 14.9 @ 91.x mph. (6/94 issue)

The Grand Prix GTP is N/A. The '05 and earlier supercharged versions WITH A/T's will run 15 flat or better.

my first time at the track in my 97 GS-T auto, with only an intake done to the car i ran a 15.2 should be alot better now once i fix one prob

Was the car at full weight? 15.2 isn't bad at all IMO. What was your mph? How'd you launch it?

i know for a fact it was supercharged. it was a buddies car from back in high school, with 123,000 Km's on it. did not ask the year...it was an auto. and it ran 16.3xx all night and nothing better than that. maybe he had issues...my other buddy had 03 vette and was running low 13's all night too. maybe the fact that it was 35 degrees celcius made a big difference on all the cars i dunno.

Then there had to be something wrong with his car because the 3.8 supercharged a/t Grand Prix, buick Regals and ?monte carlos? were all running right around 15 flat according to the car magazines. The new N/A GTP V6 a/t should run about a 16.3 so that's why I said that and the new 303 HP V8 Grand Prix runs a 14.4 with a/t.

And I've always seen low 13's in the magazines for the C5 vette m/t and 13.2 particuarly stands out in my mind and is what I'd tell anyone who might ask. The C6 i've seen 12.5's @ 115 mph (m/t) and 12.7 @ 110 with 6-spd a/t.

yup full weight, and i might had had my subs in the car too, cant remember. but when i get home later i'll look at my slips and tell you all the other info you wanted. as for the launch, and held the brake, gas about half way down, when i turned green just floored it. didnt spin or anything. it was my first time with that car, and first time ever at a track. but like i said before i've done alot of work to it since then, just now when the turbo really starts to spool or i floor it, the car dosent go anywhere and starts to sputter

My first time to the track, 14b with exhaust housing crack, upgraded intercooler piping, boost controller i had,
.106 reaction time
3.635 60 ft time
blew off my bov vacuum hose halfway down the track lost all boost 18.396 @ 67.54

second run,
R/T .787
60 ft 2.912
16.548 @ 89.36 blowing smoke halfway down the track, my dipstick tube popped up and shot oil on my exhuast manifold, the track staff thought i blew up my car

My main problem is my turbo spooled at like 3200 rpm so my car would suck balls on the launch NO brake boosting btw

I just put 3" exhaust all the way back on. And im curious to see what she would do now, considering the turbo spools ALOT better now

60' times seem to have kicked your ass that night. glad to see a 2g w/ 14b though. gives me a better idea of my mods and times. plan on hitting the track when i get back in about a month. FMIC along w/ 15psi. unless i can get a logger/safc by then. being im AWD at least i know 60' times should be around 2.0'

My first time at the track, with only an Injen intake was 15.9@87mph with a 2.3 60' (FWD)
I went back the next week with a 2.5" turbo-back exhaust and hard UICP with a 1G BOV and ran a 14.9@94mph with a 2.2 60'.
The A/Ts definitely take more to go faster.

You were running a lot more boost the 2nd time though right?

Nope...stock boost, no boost control. I didn't install a boost control until I did a boost gauge and full hard I/C pipes.
I forgot to mention earlier that I got so excited that I made 13 consecutive passes at Island Dragway. Needless to say my trans went downhill from there. <~~~~inexperienced
