I just recently got my 92 awd automatic put together and running, it has a fwd manual ecu and 450's, otherwise it's bone stock. My A/T temp display is not working, is this due to the manual ecu? Is there any drawbacks to running a manual ecu in an automatic? Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

As far I know and have experienced, it really doesn't matter one bit what ECU you run, as long as it is a turbo one and correct year (90 and 91-94). The TCU is not linked to the ECU really anyways. I believe the only connection between the 2 computers is the TCU may send an signal to the CEL circuit when an error has been found in the tranny.

I would make sure your display is even working and hooked-up.

make sure its all hooked up, if using sender mani make sure its all connected.

OK, well I guess it is a good thing that it is not coming on. I assumed it was a temp display, thanks guys.

sorry for hijacking, but the light only comes on when it is hot right? What are the reasons that woudl cause it. I know fluid levels would cause it and a lot of abuse, but it is coming on sometimes driving regularly in one of my cars.

It should come on when you first turn the key to the "IGN" position. -It will turn off after you start the car. If it does not light when you first turn the key, then pop off the dome light cover and replace the bulb, as it has burned out.

As for 12's situation,
I'd recommend a fluid and filter change. -Having is happen to me a few times, usually after prolonging doing the AT service. I've also seen it happen on a buddies AT car that had bad end clutches (erratic OD)... Swapped in the Alto end clutch upgrade kit, fluid, and filter. -Problem solved, no more AT Temp light.
