Question That I Didnt See In Newbie...about Buttons

just have a simple question....
what does the button thats located by the gears, think it says EC something, suppose to do?
when you press it, Economy lights up on the cluster.
is it some sort of fuel saver device, or does it really matter if you use it or not?

I'm pretty sure all that does is just change your shifting point. When you have the economy switch on, it lowers the point at which your tranny shifts, thus saving gas.
