i recently just had a jdm transmisson dropped in. It doesnt shift at all or downshift. But drives up to 65 real slow even with the pedal to the floor. On my old transmisson eveything was shifting fine it would just slip badly, now i have this jdm transmisson dropped in it doesnt want to shift for nothing, even when i manually shift it..L, 2 D still nothing..im thinking its the tcu?? if so can i buy any tcu from any year 90-94? thanks for the help.

ok well i been lookin into it and since mines 1990 eclipse the jdm transmisson may be a 1991-1994 transmisson could this cause problems with the tcu ? my 1990 tcu was working perfect before the swap. i also need to know if i need the specific year for the transmisson..this sucks..thanks for the help

Check for the basic boost leaks, exhaust leaks, electrical connections, and TPS adjustments first...then look into a trans problem..
You need to see what number is stamped on the trans you have as well to make sure it's 100% what you think it is.

ok, i'll check my tps on my datalogger today and the connections. as for the stamp the barcode was removed. i have a feeling its my tcu since 1990 dsm's only like 1990 sensors am i right? what i was thinking of swaping the sensors from my burnt out 1990 transmisson and put them on the transmisson that i have on now..u guys think that would work? If not maybe a 1991 -1994 tcu? i tried resetting the tcu by unhooking the battery cable that didnt work. but i still need answers about what i asked.. thanks for your time!

That's not it.
Hey man, it's a start somewhere and more of an answer than anyone else seemed to give...
You'd be surprised the weird shit A/Ts do with the most stupid and simple errors. I thought a had a blown trans, and it was all because of a TPS adjustment...
Right now your trans sounds like it's in limp mode, having a properly equipped trans shop check for errors is another option...

Hey guys problem solved! A common mistake that i didnt even notice, 1 out of the 3 cable plugs was plugged up wrong! Im happy now that i have a smooth shifting running car yay! thanks guys for your help!
