Occasionally if i get in to the pedal a lil' deep, or just driving normally sometimes the trans will shift from 2nd to 3rd, but when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd, there is a delay to where it stays in 2nd a little longer than it should... THEN it hits 3rd, but with a jolt, and right after that it automatically goes in to nuetral even though the shifter is in D... it does this for a little while and then goes back into gear...? Any ideas?

:talon:

Sounds like you have internal transmission damage. There is a flair in the shift and the clutches are just slipping up.

Yep i had the same problems. That means your due for a rebuild or get it checked out. It will only get worse if you still drive with it in that condition.

My friend is having a similar problem with his DSM, considering doing the manual swap. I told him it would be a pain to do. How much did it cost to have yours fixed at a tranny shop?

Call IPT and tell him your situation. I wouldn't trust anybody else...especially if it's going to be making some real power.

i spent about 1600. Thats all including labor for a complete rebuild, IPT rebuild kit, brand new oem converter, and new tranny pump. Yeah its hard to find a good tranny place that you can trust but im not looking to spend like over 3000 bucks for a full ipt rebuild plus i gata ship out to NJ(I could do a 5spd swap+a pretty decent built 5spd for 3500)..So i just chose a local place, they have worked on some 10second GTPs in the area. So I know there not that bad OMG

... Ugh, this thing seems to be nothing but a whole in my wallet! :thumbdown LOL, 1st the thing started locking in to 3rd gear after a while, now this... And NOW the thing is becoming ''doggy'' followed by the Check Engine light coming on. Unfortunately i think it's time for a new tranny, and possibly a new motor. I'm thinking a new car would be easier.
:talon: Thanks -Cale

Get out of the DSM game while you still can!!! Its been nothing but problems for me since day one :thumbdown I drained the tranny on mine, filled it back up and tossed a whole bottle of Lucus stop slip tranny treatment in, unhooked the battery for a few minutes so the check engine light would go off, then traded my Spyder into a dealer for 4500. :thumb:

Enjoying my DSM eater... '98 GS400

... The bad part about getting out of it is that for some reason i LOVE the way the 1G Talons look. My next car would be either a 96 Prelude, or hopefully a 98 Lexus ES 300... but that will be a year or two.

It's definately New tranny time... I lost 4th gear last night, once it shifts from 3rd to 4th, all it does is rev... so i shut off the OD on the way home. Any ''Quick Fixes'' anyone knows of so maybe i COULD trade it in or somethin before its TOO late. :sneaky: Would the new Tranny fluid and Lucas work temporarily? :shhh:

ask your dealer for carbon build up on the plentum or it might be the hill hold throttle sensor

best bet to ask the trans dude
:dsm: :tease:
